Some say that up to 95% of all mental activity is processed by the subconscious mind. That is especially true when we watch movies, and not only are filmmakers aware of it, but the really good ones are using it as an advantage.
The psychology of film, or psychocinematics, studies the various techniques film directors use to subliminally affect our thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. From colour science to camera angles, body language, frame rate, sound, editing, camera movement, framing, staging, screen direction and many, many more.
It's a playground for creativity and truly what makes movies such an amazing art form.
