On 31 March 2000 at 6.00am, the analogue satellite version of FilmFour shut down and later switched to digital, and it was actually quite historically significant, as it marked the first set of channels to be removed from the Sky analogue service.
Two years later, for a little while after the digital terrestrial television broadcaster ITV Digital ceased their operations because most subscription channels (except for some) stopped broadcasting on ITV Digital on 1 May 2002 at 7 am with only free-to-air services continuing, E4 and FilmFour still broadcast for month or so out of kindness, however that did have to come to a end as ITV Digital were no longer operational to update the keys on subscribers cards. FilmFour wouldn't return to terrestrial television until 19 July 2006, when subscription access to FilmFour ended.
