Fun fact: The color slowly being added to the shot of the ties getting dumped into the bin was achieved by simply shooting it in color and layering in actual black and white ties so they would fall in first, with colored ones getting mixed in gradually.

That was good! It's dental records though, not DNA. The other thing is that Lalo had him shave to match the facial hair too. And the body that the twins were standing over was the guy from the beginning set up to be Lalo The truly wild thing about the dental work though is that he's been sponsoring these innocent people for YEARS just as a potential backup plan that he never knew for sure he'd need.

So the title of the episode, “Wine and Roses” comes from an old movie called “The Days of Wine and Roses”. The music that plays in the intro montage is the theme song from that movie as well. The movie is about an alcoholic man who falls in love with a woman who likewise becomes an alcoholic, and through the course of their relationship they enable each others addiction. This is meant to mirror the relationship of Kim and Jimmy, and how they’ve enabled each other’s addiction to “scamming”. The intro also shows us that even while Jimmy was Saul during Breaking Bad, he always kept the wine bottle top, a symbol of his relationship with Kim. She was always deep in his thoughts. The intro is also very reminiscent of a scene from Citizen Kane and the Rosebud reveal

Love the patience on Lalo. He just starts listing the alphabet without any hesitation because he knows to trust Hector. Come to think of it, what makes this franchise so wonderful is that all the criminals we see, are top of their line, smart and resourceful people. Nobody is written like an idiot, for the story to progress. It's smart people at odds with each other, and may the best man win. Saul is a world class Bullshiter, Kim is as law smart as they come, Mike has the life experience, Lalo has the determination and brutality, Nacho is resourceful, driven and pays attention to details. It really is wonderful watching competent people at work.

The twins are pretty stupid tbh. They do everything in the most unnecessarily dangerous way for dramatic effect. Otherwise I agree.
@transformersrevenge9
4 күн бұрын
@@j.prt.979 I agree that they were not that bright, but their role as cartel brutes kinda demanded for them to create big ugly massacres to let people know not to mess with the cartel. Also, even their deaths came not from being dumb, but from it being a setup against them. Had Hank not been at full alert, he would have caught one in the back of the head while backing out of his parking spot. So again, the characters failed not because they took a drop in IQ, but because greater forces needed them eliminated.

The KZitemr Ological has excellent breakdowns of this show, especially seasons 5 and 6, he touched on something in his video on this episode that seems quite clear now, the heavy emphasis on the downward motion of objects. The ties, the shirts, all of that stuff falls, and it just drops. They don’t set it down. Symbolic of course for Saul at this time in BB, and perhaps Jimmy at this point in the show

The final season! Oh man, so much goes on here. From the cartel storyline with Nacho being on the run and Lalo having to form a plan as to take down Gus, while also having certain things in place for some kind of backup, such as the man who he had a dentist work on his teeth so he wouldn’t have anymore pain and then he not only killed the man and his wife, but later torched the guy once he killed him, so everybody believes he was killed and nobody would suspect he’s alive so that he could then be doing what he’s going to do with little to no suspicion from anybody. Lalo is definitely someone who is truly terrifying. And the whole thing with Jimmy and Kim talking about what they’ll do with Howard is quite interesting as you can see Jimmy isn’t too sure about going through with anything against him, as for him whatever issue he had with Howard seems to be gone now, but he wants to make Kim happy and so if she wants to do something with Howard, he’ll talk to her about it and indulge her as we see when he’s at the country club, which is a hilarious sequence of events. Also, hearing her saying Saul Goodman would have a flashier car and an eye catching office is defiantly interesting as this appears to have influenced him later on. Also the fact this doesn’t start with a Gene scene is really cool and how they subverted our expectations with the white box and ties going into it as we then see colored ties go into the box was well done. I like how this is the first time we ever see Saul Goodman’s home in the entire universe and it’s right after things hit the fan and he’s gotta go on the run after Hank and Steve are killed. It’s kind of funny as while this opening scene is happening, both Saul and Walt are no doubt still in the basement of the Vacuum Store. Great reaction James, I hope you’re doing well. Please take care and have a great day!

Recommendation - keep thinking of these two - but years ago I was totally taken back by the 1983 movie *"Eddie and the Cruisers"*- which still works well and has a bonus (I have the album in a box "somewhere") of a good soundtrack. Another is arguably the segue that lead or helped the anime "everyday school life" style - in fact the 2006 The Meloncoly of Haruhi Suzumiya played homage to it in its "Love Alive" episode - anyway a quiet but excellent movie called, *"Linda Linda Linda"* from 2005.
