The plan was always for Nacho to die. That why that look between mike and him was so powerful. Mike was saying goodbye
@marcbrune7995
10 ай бұрын
Gus' plan was that Nacho dies in Mexico, but he survived an threatened to snitch on Gus. Nacho only agreed to give himself up and by that saving Gus, because he and Mike agreed to leave his dad alone. In his last scene, he did not rat on Gus, but still acted against his plan to fake an escape and let him get killed by Tyrus and instead went out on his own terms.
@hbk314
10 ай бұрын
Exactly. They told him to go to the motel and to shoot anyone who attempted to come in. They planted the location of the motel in his safe knowing the cartel would find it. They paid a guy to watch Nacho and let them know if he left. Their original plan was for him to die in a shootout with the cartel at the motel. The plan for the final meeting was for Nacho to confess and then break free, then Victor or Tyrus would kill him. Nacho ultimately freed himself, using a piece of broken glass that Gus had dropped and left in the trash, took Bolsa's gun, and shot himself. He agreed to sell the story and die to protect his father, but he still went out on his own terms in a way.

This plan never made sense to me, it was obvious that the twins weren't just going to kill Nacho, they were going to get any information out of him, about who was the one who ordered Lalo's death.
@CK-iv1lq
3 күн бұрын
Yeah that plan was an example of weak plotting in the last season of BCS. It’s a plan very uncharacteristic of Gus who was always a very careful person even in earlier seasons of BCS. Just sit back and hope Nacho dies in the shootout? He would have known that the twins were never taking him dead. I can’t complain too much since it led to the brilliant ending scene of this episode but they played fast and loose with the plot during season 6 IMO. It hit jaw-dropping highs (especially in eps 7, 8, and 9) but I think season 5 was a tighter and more effective narrative overall.

I mean who cares about awards, especially Emmy's at this point. Better Call Saul definitely deserved but never won any. If Odenkirk didn't, Mando obviously wouldn't either. The Wire never won an Emmy either and that show has some of the best acting and writing I've seen. Hannibal never won anything, Always Sunny never did, at this point actively looking for shows that never won an Emmy might be a better choice. (Not saying shows that do win are bad, for example Curb and Veep won a lot and they're some of the best comedies)

Nacho spent most of his time on the show being somebody else's pawn in the game, which is what makes his final moments so badass. Not only he went out like a boss despite the circumstances, for a brief moment he finally broke away from the shackles (literally and figuratively) and acted on his own accord. I think his act also unironically saved Gus because going off the rails from their initial plan elicited a genuine surprise reaction from Gus and his men, and he got to show the ultimate middle finger to Salamanca's in the process, also robbing them of an opportunity for revenge. Definitely one of the best written character deaths in any media, props to all the writers and Michael Mando for his incredible acting

The revised plan was to make it look like Gus was turning Nacho over to the Salamancas, for Nacho to attempt to escape, and for Tyrus to shoot Nacho dead before the Salamancas could threaten him to talk (both Gus and the Salamancas were using Nacho's dad as leverage, so Nacho dying was the only way out without someone killing his dad). Nacho called an audible at the line, and took himself out in front of the Salamancas. It's literally his last act in which he control the choices, and he went out in the only fashion to avoid retaliation on his dad.

Imo, Nacho is the reason why Gus was very patient with Walter. He told him that "I believe, fear to not be a great motivator", because he saw a wasted opportunity (you can see in his reaction to Nacho killing himself). Gus in BCS only used fear for familys safety with Nacho. Ironically, in BB Gus eventually losses his temper with Walt and again uses fear threatening his family which inevitably leads to his death.

Seeing Nacho going out on his own terms is pretty significant considering we don’t see him doing much on his own that doesn’t basically benefit himself or his father in anyway, especially since he wants his dad to be safe and not in any danger as a result of what he’s doing and being associated with the Salamanca’s. Obviously, the Jimmy and Kim plot with what they’re planning to do to Howard is interesting, but the whole Nacho storyline for the first three episodes of the season is the most engaging part at this point and from here, things get even crazier. But the last thing Nacho said to Hector was truly amazing. Also, this is the last episode we see Huell in the show, so it was great to see him one last time. Truly phenomenal acting and writing. Great reaction James, I hope you’re doing well man. Have a great day and take care!

The original plan was for him to use the glass to cut free and run away so that he could suffer a quick death from a shot to the head. He was going to die either way but they were letting him have a fast death instead of being tortured. But he had different plans and obviously attacked Bolsa, which nobody knew was going to happen. It’s pretty clear he was planning on killing everyone he could but in that moment he looked around and realized he would just die either way, so instead of letting other people determine his fate, he went out on his own terms. His whole monologue was not part of the plan, it was just his massive “fuck you” to everyone. The only thing that was supposed to happen was him giving the fake story and escaping before being shot.

Nacho is my fave original BCS character. Michael Mando needs to be in more stuff.

Poor Nacho, he never had a way out. From the very moment he wanted that maniac Tuco out of his life, his fate was sealed. But you have to admire the sheer will to live on that guy. He went out on his own terms. Here is a quote from Mando in an interview, that really sheds a light on this scene and his views on life and death. ''When I first got this part, I wanted to honor the New Mexican culture, and it was really important for me to play a character that was not a stereotypical brown-skinned bad guy. And I remember wanting to go all the way back to the histories of the Aztecs and the Mayans. And then I saw a documentary that didn’t portray them in the best light. They said that they believed in human sacrifice. They would commit human sacrifice for the Gods to bring down the rain, and it sounded very barbaric. And then I heard a Latin American historian tell that same story, but he left out a really important detail. The strongest men in the village competed in a sport that the whole community watched, and it was the winners who willingly sacrificed themselves for the Gods to bring down the rain. So their relationship with life, death and the afterlife was very, very different from our Western understanding and fear of death. It wasn’t so much about if you die, it’s about when you die and what you die for. So I thought it was unbelievably beautiful that the episode starts with the rain falling down on this purple flower that also symbolizes enlightenment.'' And here is where you really see the complicated relationship between Jesse and Mike start. Mike felt like he got his own son killed. While he and Nacho didn't fully form that father-son bond, he did respect his determination, and was devastated that things went this way. And while he didn't get to see it, Jesse was the son figure in his life, who got a new start. For all the wrong Mike did, for all the hostility he showed towards Jesse at the start, it's a lot of what Mike taught, that helped Jesse get to his ending.
