@@skyjack2600 Not at all. I am one of those "stating my own opinion" guys. I understand why a very young person might call a four years career and three films "making it". I am not trying to belittle him. It's the same with music. Even if you got signed a ten million dollars contract with a big label, it only means you have potential. You are yet to prove worthy of the faith put in your abilities. Mr. Sandberg just made the first steps on the yellow break road. He did not make it to Emerald City yet. This is just my opinion. P.s., I don't understand what you mean by " this is not cinema". I assure you I hold no such opinion. If it's filmed it's cinema.

My man, you have been a true inspiration. I worked in wildlife documentaries for the better part of my carreer and was seriously afraid to not be able to get back into scenic films... In the weird global turn of events in the last months I was forced to drop every project I was working on and head back to my home country, to sit out the pandemic... As with almost every media industry the tv and film industry is pretty much fucked over here, which is horrible of course, but it also gave me time to get truly back into what made me pick up the camera in the first place: films... Thank you so much for helping me get into the mindset of short films. I'm working on a short psychological horror flick with my girlfriend as the main actress. As you've said in your annabelle creation videos, use the tools that are around you. 😂🤙

Thanks for that. Hearing how you organise and compile storyboards made me feel so sorry for you that I wanted to drop in a comment to check out Storyboarder, if you haven't already. It uses the free Fountain script format. You won't ever have to worry about organising boards for a second, and can instead focus entirely on the creation part. Easy integration with Photoshop if you want to take a board out and do some advanced work. As it seamlessly brings it back, you can even use it just as an organising tool while sketching in PS. If you prefer to draw by hand, you can print worksheets, draw on it, and have them imported into the exact scenes just by clicking a photo. If you can't draw, you can easily generate reference figures by typing in what you want. There are facilities to create 3D figures and manipulate them using a phone as the controller (haven't tried). But for you Moho might be more intuitive. One drawback I've seen with Storyboarder is that I couldn't export the storyboards of an entire script in one go. For a short film with 10 scenes, that's okay. Click 'Export' 10 times, done. But when we did a feature with 100-200 scenes, didn't want to. This was the case in the last version I tried. Haven't checked the latest. Not related to Storyboarder in anyway. Have tried a couple of other softwares. Hated all of them. But loved Storyboarder. They have a very active users Facebook Group too. PS: It's completely free. Nothing gets better than that, right?

The difference between a phone and an old high end camera is the gear around the sensor. You still need some mount for it and the controls can easily shake things up. I use the volume control on my headset to shoot, but that's only one thing and binary. But yes, the sensors are phenomal and definitely good enough. People need to worry about all else first.

Dear Mr Smasher, quick Fusion tip for you: drag one node output onto another to create a merge node, or even easier, drag 2 or more images / clips onto the flow from windows explorer (assume it'll work with finder on Mac or whatever it's called in Unix/Linux) and it'll merge them for you, at worst you'll have to re-do the plumbing or ctrl+t to swap foreground and background... I used to use AfterFX, but absolutely would not bother now I'm more fluent in Fusion! (And Adobe can poke the whole subscription rubbish too!)

Some very good advice in here. Yes, for audio editing use the inexpensive Reaper and forget the free apps like Audacity. You will come across limits in those sooner rather than later. And who wants to start all over on the learning curve? Start with something that will sustain you for decades. For sound creation you can try VCV Rack, which is like a software modular synth. But it might be better to wait for the annual sale and buy Native Instruments Reaktor for 100 clams. You get access to several thousand software instruments. It's like a mega playhouse even if you don't want to get into patching together your own designs. It's good for sound design as well as synth emulations and effects. Reaktor acts as a plugin inside Reaper or any other DAW, so it's like a thousand VST plugs in one. I have made many albums using only Reaktor. If you are into coding, you can try SuperColllider, Puredata, or even use a sound library in something like Processing. All free. As you say, for video editing nothing touches DaVinci Resolve. But I should mention that you get a license to the paid version if you buy one of their cameras. Mostly that just gets you the ability to use more than one GPU and a bunch of visual effects plugins.

I moved from Pro tools to Reaper and for $60 it's crazy good. I have 2 cheap 2.7k cameras, 2 Canon EOS Cameras, 4 action cams I got for £18 each, I use Rode knock off mics, Audio Technica condenser mics I have for recording live music and a set of clip on drum mics by Sure for live kit recordings. For a Free Audio DAW I would recommend Tracktion Waveform Free. While there are both OEM and paid versions of Waveform that are a couple years newer. Waveform Free gets updated to a new version when ever the main software gets updated to a new version keeping it roughly two years behind, but in my opinion it is still better than anything else for the price. Also, for what it's worth, the full new versions are very reasonably priced, and come with a slew of additional commercial plug-ins the free version doesn't have by default.
