That was a slick door and filter track setup. Looks like they paid attention to detail when they designed that kit. Kinda makes your day when your customers give you a nice present after ya get done with the job ya did for them. When I was delivering mail a few of the people left cookies or something small in the box with my name on it as a gift for doing my job. I always remembered and appreciated those little things I got from people in appreciation for my hard work.

All manufacturer's should supply a filter rack like that on their residential package units...but none do. This kit appeared to have ample size for the proper size filter to promote proper filter performance. Instead, to save a few bucks, they leave it up to the goofy assed installer to put in some undersized 16x20x1 filter on a 4 ton unit.

I very much enjoy your videos, opinions and all. There’s something about the way you speak which I could listen to all day. I sure would like you to discuss why you feel the way you do about Nest stats. Right now this video is running about 3% thumbs down. Does that make it a bad video? Nope! My experience with Nests- now on the third generation I think- has been very good. There’s nothing as simple and reliable as the old bimetallic spring type stats anymore.

Think that filter rack and door are a great idea. Your comment on the condensate line being sloped toward the unit may have been correct but more importantly you and I both know that these package units need to be trapped or they just hold water. Should have seen if that free hammer did as well on the Ecobee stats. Enjoy your clips, keep safe.

Calling them a miracle is a little extreme. I've seen quite a few failures just this summer. From what I've seen, they do fine in heating, but not so well for cooling. I'd recommend an ecobee over nest.

How did you rinse off the sprayed on evap cleaner, just with a hose? I didn't see any water in there, when you talked about it and then went into installing the filter housing. I want to clean mine also. I have the same unit. I bought a used house, and the air smells, I was told there was a filter in the unit I could clean out, apparently not, after finding this video. I might and try and install this.

Negative pressure unit correct? A P trap would definitely help that water issue staying in that pan IMO. Surprised the home inspector didn’t hit that. They Always hit that in NC even on positive pressure units that don’t require the trap.

I have the 2017 2.5 ton version of this unit, product number 4WCC4030A1000AB. Is a filter actually needed here? I have a filter on my ceiling air return that I thought was the only filter in my system. I cleaned my coils a couple days ago and had a service tech out in August 22 and didn't see a filter in the condenser section either time. If so would I use a 2 inch or 1 inch thick filter? Trane doesn't provide any useful documentation here.

Hey I was wondering if U ever had this issue or anyone else . We put in a new American standard unit everything was good for about the first couple weeks to a month . Than the customers complained that a couple times of day out of no where for about 10 min periods the unit would get very noisy like something wrong is going on. After several times to catch the sound I heard it and sounds like the compressor acting up. I called text support and they couldn’t figure out what’s wrong . It’s got an LG trans/American standard compressor
