It usually don't works well on wide angle lense, in astronomy filters, fast lense will cause band pass shift which will change the narrow band light pollution filter's character, also it don't work well on wide angle lense because it will change the len's focal lenth by 1/3 of the filter thickness, which the edges of the frame will have massive coma, but for the price, there's really nothing to say.

That's some great insight!

Cool video! I love the idea of drops in filters BUT I'm always nervous about touching the sensor lol, I feel the new crop of magnetic filter is a nice happy medium between screw on filters and these. Keep up the good work!

Thanks man! Magnetic fingers are awesome too! I mainly use them for Circular polarizers out of sheer convenience 📸

I see many comments of ppl worried about this, and I can understand why, but I have to say (in my extremely limited experience) that sensors are not as fragile as many think. I do astrophotography as hobby, and with no real previous knowledge about cameras or a guide I managed to disassemble my eos 2000D, remove the sensor and open it (I did not have the right tools so I literally had to break the protecting glass of the sensor module), I re-assembled the whole thing without IR filter and the camera still works fine, I even got droplets of water on the bare sensor while it was out during a winter night but it still works just fine. Not that I advice to do this type of things, but I'm pretty sure a clip-in filter and some dust wont to any damage (especially because cameras have 1 or 2 layers of glass in front of the sensor)

Very true Mastroitek, ive had tons of similar experiences with this sensors and they are very resilient. Usually surface level stuff that's simple to clean. It's only out of sheer negligence or bad luck have I ever seen a sensor get damaged. And I used to work at a camera store with a repair centre!

buying multiple filters of different sizes is so stupid. buy the lens filter that fits your biggest lens and just use step up rings lmao.

and youre argument against this is because you do an incredibly niche style of underwater photography. like come on lol

It's just another option of filters. However front filters have a ton a of problems that can't be solved with just step down rings* even outside of underwater photography that I touch base on. There's tons of lenses that are bulbous and can't even accept front filters. Which traditionally if you wanted to use those lenses with filters you'd need an ever more expensive clamp on style system. I actually go over 5 reasons why and when front filters don't work in this video! I'm sure if you watched the rest of the video you'd probably relate to many other common problems with front filters!
