A playthrough of Capcom's 1994 beat 'em up for the Super Nintendo, Final Fight Guy.
Played through with Guy on the highest difficulty level in order to get the best ending. (The option menu can be accessed by holding the L-button and pressing start on the title screen).
This is very nearly the same game as the Fall 1991 release of Final Fight. Since I just recently played that one (kzitem.info/news/bejne/k5dnv3t9h6qpbKg ), I don't have a ton to say that hasn't already been said.
There are a few notable differences, though:
-Cody has been replaced by Guy as a playable character, and the intro and ending cinematics have been altered to reflect this.
-The ending changes based on the difficulty level.
-Barrels now sometimes contain 1-ups and invincibility items.
-A couple food items have been swapped out for new ones. The orange and the sushi now seem to be particularly common drops, and the barbecue roast is now a chicken.
-There are a couple of new background animations in the third stage.
-A few of the enemy groups have been tweaked, most notably in stage 3's cage fight with the Andore family.
-The game's performance has been smoothed out, resulting in fewer instances of slowdown and dropped inputs.
You wouldn't have seen this in stores back in the day since it was never sold directly to customers in America. It was one a handful of games that was only available as a rental at Blockbuster Video, and it was promoted fairly heavily in the spring and summer of 1994.
The tweaks do little to address the criticisms leveled at the original game, but if you liked Final Fight, you'll like this. If you don't, there's nothing here that'll change your mind.
