Hello, I noticed the rectangular holes on many of the structures on the ranch. They are likely practice ventilation holes by the local fire department. Often times when structures are scheduled to be razed, fire departments use them for valuable training opportunities. Very interesting and sad on the loss of such movie history.

@willb.383 , not sure where you got your info, but those holes are typical for ventilation holes. Chainsaws with a depth guage are the most common type of tool used. They could have, but they didn't care enough to even try. The "progressive" ideology is a disgustingly destructive cult, and it's all about replacing old with new ( they see anything modern as superior and anything old as inferior) and they have no regard for history or protecting and preserving heritage. Whenever you read about old beautiful buildings that have been torn down, you can bet money on the "progressive" cult as the cause of it.

It’s sad that we can’t keep things like the homes that were used in so many movies/tv shows. But as we know, the film industry isn’t in the game of preserving, they are into the next big thing. It’s probably amazing to have seen those homes still standing for this long. Thankfully you captured a lot of that on video, so we can go back and see it over and over again. Oddly our country is based on “out with the old, in with the new” Unless you live in the 13 colonies, not much in the way of old architectures still stand. There are countries that are proud of what they build, even wanting to preserve the “look” of a town by bracing up the facade, and rebuilding the interior so that it can be updated. Also buildings from the old countries are still standing after hundreds of years. Anyway, small rant. lol. Just hate to see things destroyed, when they could be reused.

Growing up in the 70’s I spent a lot of time on the ranch, the then Burbank Studios & Universal. The ranch was all still an old west cowboy town. At some point (80?) they tore those sets down. The only fixture that survived that transition was the church in the southwest corner; it changed from old west to suburban America. When they tore it down there was much sadness and lament for film history but truth be told this stuff is all temporary. Cinema history is retained in the media itself and if we’re lucky surviving props & costumes…but backlots need to change from time to time. It’s just the nature of progress. Btw I was at Uni when the Spartacus sets came down. It wasn’t done for sake of progress but safety….it had started to collapse on its own…in the middle of an event. It’s fate was sealed then. The original phantom of the opera sets on the front lot however…that loss was a bummer. Taken down for Nintendo.

A missed, TOTALLY missed, 'feel good' opportunity from Warner corporate -- Twenty years ago this summer, the same studio, Warner Bros., 'hosted' an employee barbecue on its iconic western street set, Laramie Street, situated on the southeast corner of the property, that was soon to face 'the wreckers' ball.' Westerns were dead. But, what an appreciative, respectful gesture -- honoring the set(s), their legacies and letting employees who wished have a last walk down the wood boardwalks or center of the dirt streets, with music and food provided. "Nicely done, Warners." Summer 2023: So, what's to keep Warner Bros. from having a similar farewell, with the fabulous, oh-so-familiar swimming pool's deck area, situated dead center in the park, half surrounded by all those familiar sitcom' houses, being the 'center piece' for the party? Did anyone give it a thought, consider it?!

He should've mentioned the Heck house from The Middle which was to the right of the church. The Middle used every single building on the lot.

I loved The WB Television Network and it’s so sad to see the tear down. I grew up with the backlot breaks for shows like Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Smallville, Dawson’s Creek and other shows so just great memories of shows I loved. Ty for the videos @TheDailyWoo. Glad to see you’re still around and keep up the great work man!

I don’t understand why they are going to tear down so much movie history. It makes absolutely no sense. They could stage those buildings and charge admission to to make extra money. Those buildings go back to my childhood! I just don’t get it! We need to preserve history!
