I finally got around to seeing this film, January 28, 2024. What a sweet and simple story, beautiful cinematography, chemistry between all the players and how the whole thing was so effortlessly relatable. At the end, when Alvy and Annie are having lunch, just kicking around old times, I notice that each character is framed in their own window, but Alvy reaches across the barrier to touch Annie while she is laughing. Then, during the final scene, we see the view from inside the restaurant, the two characters are seen together in a window frame. It is Alvy who reaches forward for a kiss, then Annie turns, steps off the curb, across the window barrier and into her own frame, and then disappears. I suppose there's a message or analogy in there: people are like that; for a relatively small space of time, people can occupy the same frame, they are seen through the same window. It takes two people, in concert, to occupy the same frame for that duration, in terms of their mutually beneficial exchange of values. And after what is perceived to be a requisite time, when the value displacement breaks the equilibration of reciprocity, one of the two people leaves the frame. Such is life, the lovely interplay between individuals exhibiting the properties of charged particles.

I love how when they walk away from each other, the pedestrian sign is saying "Don't Walk" and just as Woody Allen walks out of the frame, it turns to "Walk." Not sure if that was intended or just a marvelous coincidence.

So Profound. The Way He Stands There Looking At Her Walking Away And As He Walks Away He Turns His Head For One Last Look. The Pedestrian Sign As If Something Is Telling Them To Stay Together. The View From The Inside Of The Cafe As If It’s Being Viewed By Someone. To That Person, Those Two Don’t Mean Anything, But That We Watched From Beginning To End Makes This Ending That Much More Profound.

Typically speaking, I hate romance films. However, this an exception, because it's one of the funniest films I've ever seen.I also love the cinematography. The change on the sign at the end from "Don't Walk" to "Walk" somehow makes this one of the most powerful endings to any film I have ever seen.

This is one of my favourite films of all time as it reminds me of my first boyfriend (Who looked and acted like woody). It makes me teary-eyed, and Dian's voice is very soothing.

Watched it for the first time recently, had been keeping it in the watchlist since ages but somehow never watched it. This is one of those exceptionally rare movie which keeps growing on you, as in yes you like the film after it ends, but its more than that, it stays with you for some reason you cannot explain, and its also a pretty heartbreaking film since it shows the reality of relationships, how you myt not end up with the "one"..

There's the young Sigourney Weaver, fresh from the Yale drama program, as Alvy's tall date outside the movie theater. No lines in the final cut, and it's a distant shot, but still, not a bad film in which to make one's screen debut!

W.Allen's subjectivity makes his one of the legend directors though. As we know he is a big fan of Ingmar Bergman but his movies doesn't smell like a Bergman movie although how much he likes him.

I think it's the particular point of view... shot from inside the bar, a couple of empty chairs but love is still there... outside they say goodbye and time just goes on... something which can only be expressed through cinema
