Tobi on it w the Deoxit ! The coolness of this project is truly incalibratable :D

Fader lube is the correct version of deoxit to use on pots. However if you over use it, it dissolves the friction grease that is applied to the shaft of the pot for resistance to turning. The feel of the pot will change from tight and accurate to adjust to 'loose to turn' with no friction ( like the volume on a fender strat.) To restore that you will need to remove and disassemble the pot. And reapply the proper friction grease around the shaft. So be careful. I ruined the master vol pot of my line 6 pod this way. Now you can flick it and it spins right around to full.

Great comment, thank you! Will look for „friction grease“. I know from Contact Spray that it makes Pots too light. De-Oxit re-lubricates a bit but is ofc no replacement for proper lubrication! All the best, Tobi

I had the same issue when working on Tascam Portastudios. Fader grease is what worked for me, but only with potentiometers and faders that had access holes or could be disassembled. Great work and good luck!

Sidecar rack looks really clean, well done! Just a q - are your Sydec/Euphonix units vented adequately or might you put vent slots in the sides?

Thanks! The Rack is quite open from the back, so the heat should flow nicely. Also I know these Converters and they are fine as they have plenty of space inside their 2u Case :) (My UAD Apollos in the Studio are the complete opposite - Converters and DSP in a 1u case that gets CRAZY hot…). But yes - I want to find a good venting slot solution for wooden racks in the future that is easy to manufacture, durable and keeps the dust out! And looks nice ofc ;) Wood is indeed not good in terms of heat transfer. Thanks for following along and all the best, Tobi

you will definitely want to make better airflow in the rack with all that equipment in there and space things out a bit so they are not sitting on top of each other. In general wooden racks sound better especially if you use wooden rails as the equipment is not sharing chassis ground but they act like an oven if not given good airflow.

Hi! Never seen wooden rails actually :) The Rack is quite open from the back so air should flow out nicely, but I‘ll monitor that. Thanks and all the best, Tobi

@@tobitweaksyou would just use a piece of strapping fastened to the sides of the rack rather than the metal rails and drill holes equally spaced into it based on the height of each piece of equipment i use two chopsticks to space the equipment for airflow only as i am drilling the holes but really a couple of cm is all that is needed
