M-17 is the final theme of the film 聖闘士星矢 神々の熱き戦い, known in English as Saint Seiya: The Heated Battle of the Gods. It was released in the year 1988.
The film takes elements from Norse mythology to form its plot. Dolbar is defeated by Seiya who shoots a golden arrow at him, which passes through him and hits the statue of the Norse god Odin. At that moment, Athena (Saori Kido), who had been imprisoned by Dolbar, falls into the void, but is taken in the arms of the Pegasus Seiya. The statue of Odin falls, crushing Dolbar, likewise, the Palace of Valhalla is destroyed. This event causes Yggdrasil to appear, dispelling Odin's evil presence, giving rise to the birth of flowers and filling the atmosphere with peace and prosperity.
M-17 begins with a piano which is responsible for highlighting the feeling of tranquillity that the final scene offers us. In its wake, the piano is complemented by a string section and an accordion, which has been identified as an element that refers to the spatial level, this being Asgard. The melody was put by the piano, which has the leading role in the composition, in the final moments, it is interpreted by a mixed choir, which is mainly composed of low voices and a main voice, the voice being that of the soprano Kazuko Kawashima, whose involvement in Yokoyama's works extends beyond the Saint Seiya soundtrack.
