Native New Mexican here. Your vids bring back fond memories. I’ve fly fished just about everywhere in NM. Extensively in the Jemez. Caught my first fish on a fly rod on the Cebolla, just above Fenton-12” Rainbow; many years ago! I was hooked. It been years since I’ve been back to fish (living in AZ now). I still bow hunt there when I’m fortunate enough to draw. There are some beautiful places out here, but nothing like NM.

Hey, thanks for the comment. I think my first fish on fly was a little brown on the East Fork. I followed it up later that evening hooking a stocker on a dry at Fenton. I was hooked as well. I love the Jemez. NM has many surprises tucked away for those of us who are willing to put in a little effort. Glad to hear you still come back and visit to hunt and whatnot. I've slowed way down on making videos, but might still put out one here and there of some local fishing adventures. Take it easy Mr. or Mrs. Malfunction. Maybe I will run into you up in the mountains! Have a good one.................................AO

Aren't most of the fish in that creek brown trout and not stocked rainbows? I was under the impression that they do not stock it - it's just native trout and mostly browns. If I'm wrong, let me know! Thanks for watching.

@@andersonsoutdoors4873 First of all...again, nice video. This is more a matter of semantics as the only native trout of New Mexico are the Rio Grande Cutthroat and the Gila Trout. All others are imports...Rainbow Trout from the west coast, Brook Trout from the east coast and Brown Trout from Europe (Germany and Scotland). New Mexico is also home to a couple of non-native cutthroat species...the Snake River Cutt and Yellowstone Cutt. The Rio Guadalupe and all other waters in the Jemez are full of self sustaining populations of Brown Trout and it would be more accurate to refer to them as resident browns vs native browns. Sorry for the rant.

I was just up at fenton last week. Finally caught a rainbow trout. Very quiet and hardly anyone. I enjoyed it. Are there trout in the creek going up from san ysidro up to fenton?

We were fishing the Rio Guadelupe in this video. Can be a moody creek....but we love it. Can't wait to get back on there this summer. Thanks for watching!

Great vid! You guys ever fish here in late May or Early June? I happen to have the last week of May off work and was planning on fishing this area but was unsure how the fishing will be that early.

Hey Andy - sorry I missed your comment somehow. Depending on the year, it could be good at that time. Year to year snowpack, and therefore runoff , can vary a little, but just check the local fishing reports at NM Game and Fish. They will often have the most recent streamflow numbers and conditions. See you in the hills......................................AO

I'm fishing an old Sage RPL 586 that I built back around 1994 maybe. Neusch is also fishing an older Sage - but I don't know what version it is. Thanks for watching!

Brett Jones this little creek actually has some spots where you could definitely swim. Most places it’s shallow and rocky but the huge deep runs are there! Thanks for watching. See you in the mountains.................AO
