Just picked this up for my dad as a Father’s Day gift. He does new construction plumbing where a lot of the times there’s no electricity. Sometimes he has to get into a dark attic or a dark craw space, this should work perfectly. Most of his tools are Milwaukee, so he should love this.

The light is cool seems like they need a new designer tho unless there is a inverter inside there to run 120 why the hell didn’t they utilize the extra space for other random things like say a removable inspection light that charges when it’s docked I have ideas for days

There's literally a rectifier inside the device, drivers and controllers for the LEDs and different modes and adequate space for cooling the electronics. I don't think there really is much void space to work with after all that.

@@justgregnow but also the fact that it's pack out means it with my radio, my shopvac, my cooler, my other boxes with tools and bits and accessories, and my light I now only have to make one trip to and from my vehicle to my job site because even as basic as the three main pieces of the pack out are having it as a rolling dolly system that stacks and the fact of mine is 7 ft tall at 5 ft 7 and 170 lb I'm able to roll my entire tool system with me anywhere I go as long as there's an elevator getting to different floors is not a problem but where I live that's not an issue. If they were to have some sort of ladder and also a job site workbench that is compatible with the pack out that you can keep in the same stack I would be set to go. I've already seen a patent for the actual packout ladder that looks really interesting and would be awesome if they did it since it would literally fold up and be part of the handle system on the dolly box which just seems brilliant to me but who knows if they'll actually come out with it or not a lot of people give the actual packout dolly itself a lot of grief and gripe saying that it's cheap plastic so maybe they'll come out with a different version of it as for now it's perfectly integrated with my system and works great for me but I can see how others would not like this system as much but then again they don't really market their one key technology and app as much as they should considering how awesome it actually is and how it beneficial it could be to everybody using Milwaukee tools or any tools for that matter cuz you can buy tags and ticks especially and stick them on any tool you want to .

I picked this up Sunday, to go with. Y Packout m18 Shopvac I got 2 weeks ago. Mainly for a charger, but also water resistant lights (on ridgids 18v line with all their severely not water resistant anything). It'll take 4.5hrs to charge my 12ah, but I charge overnight so not to worried.

How harsh is the light? I have the little M12 light and find it almost unusable because the light is so glaring. I usually always use my Makita fluorescent tube style light.

It needs to also charge 12v batteries. This replaces nothing. I still have to pack a dual charger, and a roving light. So this only solves me hanging a light on my packout. Swing and a miss.

I ordered early, about 4 months ago and it shipped about a month ago. I also ordered the new packet vac. I agree with everything you said. I’d like to have seen a roll up extension cord that made the hookup easy and convenient. I’d also like to have seen a little better use of the hollow internal space... if I’m right, based on a standard rapid charger, there is still quite a bit of space inside. Even better...... I’d like the unit to also function as a power outlet that once could plug into. On a side note.... the new vacuum is a big improvement over the previous portable unit!!! I wish standard filter bags were available at Home Depot or Lowe’s

We might get a redesign that has more space. I’m on the fence just because the storage is just a bit too small; if it had enough space to store a XC5 or XC6 along with a few screwdrivers and maybe one or two wrenches (10-12in. long) then I’d definitely get one. Hopefully we get a slight redesign. 🤞

Good review. I loved my m18 rocket until it got damaged due to flooding. Quick to deploy, various height range, particularly at the tallest setting was key for me. If you had to choose between the rocket and this packout light, is there a clear winner? IMO lights typically on the floor can be blinding unless you're working in a concentrated area, and unless the output is so great you can bounce the light off the walls etc.

I actually took some steel tubing that I had that has a pin locking system that extends vertically and took that $25 LED job site light from Home Depot that husky makes it's 12,000 lumens and built a metal frame at the top to hold the legs onto and add some thicker cold rolled steel pieces that I got from a job I used to work at to get it to wait so it wouldn't tip over now that thing stands about 15 ft tall and I can take that 12,000 lumen LED light and angle it down and it's a street light basically now it's probably the best thing I've ever made because I can pop that thing up in my yard at night when I want to work on something now the daylight hours are shorter and my sunlight is increased because it's basically what it is it's a miniature sun. It is ridiculously bright. I may not be able to cut the cord on it but I can tell you one thing that it is more than worth the $25 asking price that they had listed for I wish I would have grabbed several more for the people in my neighborhood would probably just hate me in every way if I have to have more than one. Even with it pointed down the light reflecting off of everything is still ludicrous in every way.

It seems like there's a just ton of wasted space inside there. LED drivers and battery charger circuits just don't take that kind of volume. Witness the Top-Off; it even has a 175 watt AC inverter and is scarcely bigger than an M18 battery. I don't mind the cost in the least, but the form factor seems a bit excessive given its capabilities. Maybe if it had an M12 charge bay, or an additional M18 battery slot, or bigger stowage for the big-ass phones everyone has these days.

I think it is a very stupid product. It's a Packout storage system component and doesn't have space for storage (lol), if you use to light some areas is very unconfortable, big, rare to use and any other Milwaukee or other brand light is lighter, compact and has the sale or more lumens, if you use as charging station you can only charge one battery, charges slower and as you said and extension cord, that it is not included and there is no place to store it, is requiered. I repeat it's a very stupid product, i repeat, i repeat...

Can easily store a 15' 16/3 extension cord in the side compartment.
