Good to see you & Gracie back in the barn 😁. That's a good solid stool repair that's for sure and an easy lecy install with those sockets having push-fit or Wago style connectors, they're brilliant 👍. Maybe you'll be more organised with the battery charging now 😂.

Hi JP! Loved the little soliloquy about workshops. By the way, I cannot find your French DIY Life channel. Can you link to it somewhere?

What you seem to be describing about mental health benefit of your workshop sounds like the book called "Flow" written by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. From Amazon description; "Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's famous investigations of "optimal experience" have revealed that what makes an experience genuinely satisfying is a state of consciousness called flow." It is like the world melta away and you are focused on the task at hand. Glad to see you back, I enjoyed those short tips videos from a couple on months ago. Cheers

It's funny once you start using power tools you completely forget about hand tools. I think I counted five or six hand saws in front of you above the bench. 😮 😅 👍

Hi again JP! Have you considered getting rid of that dividing wall and joining the two bays of the barn into one larger workshop?

Hi Nomad, hope you’re well. . I did move it last year to split the space 60 / 40 in favour of the workshop rather than straight down the middle. Opening up would be great but I would need to find somewhere to store all the garden equipment and that project would be a way off. Regards JP

Nice tor see Grace making and appearance. Did you consider putting French and English Sockets in the workshop. Because I had a mix of French and English tool I did. Now given that my tools stay in France in retrospect all French sockets and changing the plug may have been the way to go. What do you think of the french sockets with push or lever fixings been available in France for years and only just making an appearnce in the uk

Hi Owen. The French sockets are great 👍 The electricity section of this video is a shorter version of the one I will post on the other channel and I have done exactly as you said. I have two UK wired in. Still have in the house a couple on spurs. Christmas lights are the worse because the plug is also the transformer! I said in the footage I filmed I need to go and buy around 12 plugs and spend a morning swapping them all. I like the way the Triton routers have the EU plug buried in a UK one so you just remove the outer part. Regards JP

@@Smallbarnworkshop I have a fien screw gun that is like that has a uk plug that wraps round the uk plug. For years I got away with a long uk 4 way extension lead with a French plug on it.

Assuming you've already worked out how you'll support the existing wall (electro magnets, not utilising batteries) it'll be difficult to construct the form and or connect that plinth to the existing slab. Not beyond the wit of man but it'll be a pain. If you come from the outside you could form upto the slab, then block work up to bottom of wall.

Glad to see ye back in the shop. Still waiting weather here in Scotland to play nicer. Got a few panels to glue up and -c overnight doesn't help. Sigh. I am curious as to why the conduit for the bench top plug is not run behind the wall? Looking forward to the new jobs videos. Take care & stay safe.

Thanks Doug. I keep telling myself that we are about three weeks from the date of the 2020 lock down and the early spring was fantastic then, so figures crossed we get that weather. Workshops , industrial premises often have surface mounted electric, it makes them easily configurable. Regards JP

JP agree with your proposal for a sleeper wall, I would also paint it outside with a bitumen paint. One question, as a qualified carpenter why did you not just demolish your old shed and build one from scratch, you clearly have the skill set to do this and you would get exactly what you want, as opposed to fitting a workshop into an existing leaning and creaky old shed.

Hi RpR. When we bought the house the shed was huge, 3 times the size it is now.We demolished most of it to open the view down the valley from the house. Then over the years as we were renovating the house the rest of the shed was rotting away, but we needed it for the storage of materials and tools. So, every now and then I would repair it I replaced the corner posts, added concrete for the floor and repaired the roof. So, when I finally got round to giving it some individual attention I had invested too much money in it to tear out down. To be honest I also like the challenge 😊 Regards JP
