Dude, pretty awesome work, and nice clear videos. I'd like to see you replace the shift bushings- mine are pretty worn- lots of slop. I should say mine is a '01, with 164k miles on it. Done a lot of your 10 suggested mods already, and I plan on keeping it for another 20 years! Thanks for your work! Subscribed!

I am really glad you like the videos! That means alot to me. Your car sounds great! I did a few of the shifter bushings but started to realize mine weren't very worn out. I'm sure I'll get to them soon! Thank you for the support!

You have installed the wrong end link, it is for a thicker pin e.g corrado. There is play which is visible when you go through the gears.

Haha spot on! Dang online stores. This was a while ago, since then I have fashioned a metal spacer to make it snug without play. Thank you for the support!

Hunter, I lost all but 2nd gear and need advice. I am ordering the Diesel Geek kit complete with the superslider but I am a little hazy on the bushings in the kit. The super slider and gear grabber are clear enough but will the remaining bushings refurbish the cable ends or will I need to order complete cable ends and replace the complete existing cable ends.

Would you recommend to grease up all the bolts and the super slider too?

Shifting/putting my car into 1st or 2nd feel so bad. I'm wondering if any of these parts would mess with how smooth gear engagement is? Thinking I might have to rebuild the tranny 😐. (edit) I replaced the dogbone mount thinking it would help it did not, gears still catch shifting.

I would check the shifter bushings before rebuilding the whole transmission. There is a small rubber piece called "the first gear getter" (I put it on in the episode before this one) that wears out. When it does, it makes it hard to get into first gear. It would likely cause second to be a bit difficult as well. Then you can try re-aligning it to make the shifts a bit crisper. I hope it's not your transmission itself. Thanks for the support! Happy to answer more questions if you have any:)

@@HunterDirection thank for the vid, I bought my 180 a bit ago a and just started fixing it up and came across your videos. Hope to learn more from them. Other than the gears feeling eh the car drives crazy good and pulls nicely. Awp engine code I'm currently looking to replace all the pvc system and breather hoses. Kinda difficult to find the right stuff and doesn't help every video on KZitem at typically 225 models.

@@HunterDirection so that kit linked in the video is what I need right? Thanks for actually replying btw. There's so much to this car and it being my first forced induction car I've had it's a lot to take in.

@@jungillestt02 yeah I could see that being a bit difficult since the layout is different. The 180hp engine is incredibly similar in layout to mk4 gti's so some of those tutorials will also apply to your car if you are looking for more examples like your car.

@@jungillestt02of course! Happy I can help! And yeah, that kit has replacements for all the bushings. They make one for the 5 speed and one for the 6 speed I believe so double check their website. You can also just take off the shift boot and double check the play on all the bushings visually before ordering too.
