Most other reviewers focused on the automatic functions and made artificial-sounding abominations. I will use your link to buy it!

Weird hack for this plug-in and others like it: If you get a big harmony that is getting overloaded with some of its frequencies, you can use a stem separation action on the vocal harmony track. You will get some extra stuff under the other or the guitar category, depending on how the stem separator is set up. Now you can decide if those extra frequencies need to be omitted completely or if you want to EQ them or mess with them to have them blend better. As somebody who records in a noisy spot, it helps to reduce the amount of low-level pickups that are getting expanded with the harmonies. (I do what I can to eliminate them from the get-go of course, but you know.)

But I had the best time ever when I pitched up and just set a 1 3 5 7 and got to sing as an out-of-work old female torch singer. It had a bunch of artificial artifacts, but there were a few phrases that rang out such a cool way kept me in the moment and I really ended up freestyling a song from this character's voice . . .

Think it’s a very interesting plug-in, since TC has practically ended their “Pro” version of Helicon voice live boxes in favor of some cheap guitar stomp boxes. As I see it practically does on the fly, what Digitech startet 30 years ago with the Vocalist, just in pure software. I still kinda want it “in a box” so I could easier drag it along on stage. Think it’s a big shame TC dont make the Helicon anymore.

Yes. Too bad for TC helicon only targeting musicians. I have worked with harmonizers since the Digitech VHM5 circa 1991. The VHM5 was designed to create auto harmonies and the MIDI note-to-harmony feature was an afterthought of ivl. There have been many ' MIDI home karaoke' attempts, failed because the library with vocal tracks was limited and sometimes the harmonies were only interesting. Tune 1000 provided great MIDI karaoke with vocal backing accurate to the artist, but they missed some features. I purchased the entire 1500 song library and modified to be friendly to any gender, age or skill. I can do that with any MIDI backing track and planned on marketing a home karaoke to the masses, but the hardware is becoming extinct. The Roland VT4 is close, but it is not Helicon. I have hopes for this software. kzitem.info/news/bejne/wH9uvnudoIBllYo

Waves dropped this in my inbox this morning....Dom Dadda, you're my bro and I love ya... however...after watching this...as a vocalist. I now know how jobbing drummers feel when you load Marco Minnemann in Groove Agent lol. Ironically Freddie's natural harmonies were so tight that they would be in phase at times such was his vocal mastery. I would like to hear how this sounds when you put an instrument sound through it and break the plugin [In a good way]. Don't get me wrong Waves Harmony will sell truck loads alongside its OVox and Vocal Bender counterparts this will serve as an instant vocoder fix for me personally for starters. Great video Dom thanks! Love your enthusiasm and mad skills. Just got this plugin and it works great for my live show. One question -- have you found a way to sustain vocals? I want to sing a note, have it HOLD the harmonies.. then I might sing something else over top. Almost like a sustain pedal for the background harmonies. Tried doing this with two different Ableton devices with no luck. First one Ableton's "Looper" device but the transients were too glitchy. Second one I tried was assigning a foot trigger to Ableton's Reverb Device "Freeze" button with better results. But still not great. Do you know of another way to do this? Seems to me the plug-in could easily be modified to do this. Let me know if you have any suggestions. For stage use.

@RomainRaynalComposer

I guess a lot of work.
@Metalpazallteway
2 жыл бұрын
@@RomainRaynalComposer I feel he had to have used a harmonizer because even if you sing something close to the original one can notice differences in the voices. The octave jumps he sings are way to perfect and in sync for a male to be in sync. I'm not saying Freddy couldn't do it but if you listen to the vocals dry they're much too in sync and his vocal lines are much too even when sung separately in production you could tell one from another if they were independent. But in his songs that is not the case. He must've designed or used one of the first vocoders that weren't open to the public at the time.
@DomSigalas
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Freddie and Queen in general we’re masters at creating vocal harmonies. It was their trademark. Freddie was singing the harmonies so close to perfection that his voice would phase with each other. I am not going to call this “talent” because it undermines someone’s hard work. These people were perfectionists and while back then Queen were criticised by some for their extravagant use of studio techniques (compared to other, “raw” bands), they were real masters. No, they didn’t use any harmoniser (not until albums like The Works) it was all real recordings painstakingly stacked on top of each other. If you can get a hold of Bohemian Rhapsody’s multitrack you will be able to tell!
@Metalpazallteway
2 жыл бұрын
@@DomSigalas Thank you Dom so much for this intro master rendition and for your wonderful expertise feedback. My take on Queen pieces, aside from their perfectionist approaches, was the fact that I've always felt that having unified warmth and attack's sustains is almost unobtainable because one can tell of such anomalies during the analysis of the track. And yes the best way to approach it is to actually see all multi tracks in their independent nature to perform the complete dissection and see the piece for it's internal beauty. Thank you so much once again
@mrdali67

@@Metalpazallteway Have seen other videos where people having access to the stems told how unreal Freddy was able to record almost perfect unison tracks, and that on regular tape. There is an american vocal group that for some years back won a content for vocal groups who had something of the same. You KNOW they record it normally, but their voices are so tight you automaticly think they gotta have used autotune cause noone can sing that perfect in tune, but they really just are that good.
