great update Mark. Your plants are looking really healthy. And I think you are right...pot size is a little too big for the shorter seasons. The weather this year has not been great for harvests....but next year you should see much better results!

This season has been hard work but have to say the last 2 weeks for me has turned it back around plants filling with pods and starting to ripen now.I do have the advantage of a small green house so no problem with getting them to ripen later in the season my crosses are coming along great and even an accidental cross which I’m looking forward to trying .pleased you have a few super hots now and always keep the faith primos are great 2nd and 3rd season plants so yes over winter .

I've got scores of gorgeous fruit set across my plants(got just shy of 60 plants on the go) but just the odd ones ripening. I'm in Cornwall and there's been no shortage of those grey, cool and windy north coast days unfortunately! Really hoping we'll see a couple of weeks of more settled, sunny weather this month so my many(many!) Trinity, Orange Habanero, Joe's Long Cayenne, Boquinho and Serrano fruit get to their best!

Same situation as yourself, waiting for things to ripen! I'll overwinter my Dorset Naga, Fatalii, and 7 pot Primo, the plants are just too nice and vigorous to throw away at the end of the season. Your cayennes look plentiful, one variety I'll attempt to grow next year. PS I restricted 4 plants to 3 litre pots this year and they've all fruited and ripened, albeit in smaller amounts of course.

@@sennen222 Thanks for your comment Kev, I'm definitely going to overwinter some of those superhots...those Cayenne's have Ben the star performers this year considering the weather we've had. I'm also definitely going to do what you've done and restrict a few in smaller pots next year, might even try cross pollinating a few.

Any advice on what the perfect pot size for the UK?
@TheChilliNortherner
16 күн бұрын
@@a.k1102 Good question, I'd like to know the answer to that myself, I'd say it varies. This year has been difficult due to the cool summer and not as much sunshine days. Most of mine in the 7.5ltr and 10ltr pots have now fruited even though they are late this year, but the bigger pots have struggled this year whereas they didn't last year so to play it safe I'd say the pot sizes I'd prefer are the ones I mentioned above but it totally depends on where you're growing, greenhouse, outdoors, on a window sill indoors, there's always a bit of trial and error, if in doubt always go to a smaller pot size, even 5ltr, you can always pot up if it grows like crazy.

What fertiliser do you use with your grow lights, before you put them outside? And how often do you fertilise?
@TheChilliNortherner
21 күн бұрын
Hiya...I don't use any fertiliser when the plants are under grow lights, the only fertilizer is what's already in the premixed multi purpose compost. I only start using fertiliser about 4 weeks after the final pot up and even that is a basic liquid seaweed type on a low dosage.
