Can Maestro actually see, what button you are pressing? Or it's only working with a crutch like this?
@BehindTheFilm
11 ай бұрын
Good question. Keyboard Maestro does know what input you give it, whether that's a keyboard button press, mouse click, etc. Those inputs can act as a trigger for an automation workflow. However in this case, since Blackmagic has locked key remapping on their keybaord as opposed to a typical keyboard, my method uses a screen trigger. So when the red marker is visible on the screen, that triggers the automation workflow to ripple trim from playhead. 😁

I just discovered it's also possible to map the "escape" key on the speed editor to Ripple Trim Playhead. Unfortunately it's the only key on the speed editor that can be mapped via keyboard shortcuts. However, it does allow you to easily have at least Ripple Trim In on the speed editor, which is enough for me.

Interesting 🤔 What did you use to remap it? My understanding was that Blackmagic purposefully made it impossible to write or remap any key.

Still seems like it would take longer to switch colored markers back me forth for trim beginning to trim end, that it would honestly be faster the split ripple delete way. I’ve got these customized on my mouse, but yea, it sucks that it’s not native on the speed editor

@BehindTheFilm
6 ай бұрын
Yeah unfortunately you can’t really do it within DaVinci Resolve, which is what’s frustrating a lot of people. The best you can do is create a shortcut for the Esc key, and then both the Speed editor Esc key and your computer keyboard Esc key will both be mapped to whatever you set

Totally, there’s multiple ways to achieve the same outcome. The downside with the in & out method is that you have to have already set an in point when playing forward through the clip, and if you did, then you have to do the work of scrolling back. My only aim is to make things faster for myself with the fewest moves possible. Totally not saying it’s for everyone though 🙂

@avdcam
8 ай бұрын
Yah I just switched to it full time. It's not the most ideal since the arrow keys make the shift key small and the right option key is missing, no visible page up so you have to use a function combination etc. so litle quirks. but the biggest downside is zero backlighting. it's honestly, a travesty on a keyboard with that price. not to mention it could easily use another dozen or so custom keys for macros,ugh. But even with all those issues, I'm not going back.@@BehindTheFilm
