@@donavandeysel6778 Ah! That's awesome! Thanks for posting this! Super cool. 100% that was his rig. The producer and mixer of that album talked about how he used the SPX90 in the mix. It's certainly possible that sometimes it was a stereo setup, and other times they did chorus in the mix. Zakk had mentioned as well that during tracking they had a 100w JCM800 and 50w JCM800 and he would switch over to the head that sounded best for the part. 👍🤘

What a load of krap, the symphonic is a crappy spx90 copy, the yamaha spx is a poor man’s copy of dimension d style chorus, zakk is a poor copy of randy rhoads and his chorus pedal (try chorus brigade by audiority or uad) and you will see zakk was clueless that randy used the boost on it to add character to his plexi like evh did a phaser90, and zakk never even got his own tone, it was white snake producer who used john syke’s rig…temporarily spx 90 to replace john’s pedal chorus…you want the real wylde sound which became his own signature tone (after 15 years) try arturia uad dimensions or eventide h949, but the pedal plug mercurial gives away free also sounds like it! Free so your THU bs is BS

I had to say goodbye to my old friend, my 1986 Yamaha SPX90, about a year ago. The transformer fried. I was using it in the classroom, showing effects to my middle school students, when blue-ish gray smoke started pouring out form it. My repairman signed the death certificate. Well... can't complain. After 30 years, you can't expect it to live forever. This is great. I'll really miss the trigger sampler though. I used to play gigs with a Carvin amp, and the SPX90 in the effects loop. Great sounding delays and reverbs. I was aware of the symphonic effect, but didn't use that much. I had a better chorus effect by detuning the right or left channel a few cents.

I was in college in the late 80's and couldn't afford the SPX for my modest rack (I had just bought a pre-ordered MT1X multitrack cassette recorder and was flatass broke) so I financed an REX50 thru a local dealer in H-town. I hated that it was a "desktop" unit but that little sucker served me quite well thru the early 90's till I could again afford proper upgrades to my gear and finally didn't have much "economic" issues ever again. Hey Nielsen! If you ever get a chance, would be a super cool video to compare SPX90 to SPX900, 1000 and 990! There's a lot of 990 out there and some 900, and there's simply no comparison videos for guitarists. The best you can find is drum reverb comparisons. Did the patches change over the different models? The bandwith did, and apparently the series became more high definition, but maybe that was the charm?

I dunno about other's experience, but TH-U has been one of the best in my list of amp sims, not exactly kemper but amongst plugins, this is the best i've come across, they have issues in DI rigs, the input gain meter & settings and the low end compression though, other than that the profiles sound surprisingly same as real rig setup i own(DSL100, Archon & evh5150 3 into marshall & mesa v30 4x12 cab). Now comes FX, some are good like some ODs, delays & mod/pitch but mostly hit & miss, hence using a HX pedal unit for live and valhalla/eventide plugins in the box.
