A wizard somewhere was tempering with your code, but when you added serial debugging he knew it was gonna lead you right to him so he stopped.

This is so sick, congrats! That first run when the software meets the real world is always so nerve-wracking, glad it worked out for you 👌 Do either of the signal lines for 2nd/3rd use the same pins as the arduino uses for serial? Think it's pin 0 and 1, maybe enabling the serial connection enabled some flag in the atmel chip and that's why it started working with serial debugging enabled... I would probably try isolate that issue before doing a road test in case it suddenly decides to stop working again 😅

Thanks! It's already nerve-wracking enough when you're testing on maybe $50 or $100 of equipment, but a whole transmission? Nervous or anxious are definitely understating how I felt! I specifically made sure to only put the gear LEDs on those pins so I wouldn't wind up with serial messing with solenoids, and so I'd have visual feedback whenever I'm doing serial stuff. I've removed the lines for serial debugging since I had some other stuff I needed to debug, and the problem hasn't came up since, so absolutely no idea what's going on with that.

I’d say the to throw a lockup button on the steering wheel for the torque converter :) did this with my 12v Cummins and never looked back! May need to grab a junkyard core converter and send it to a tranny shop to double up on the lockup clutches, raise the stall, and maybe even a billet rear cover if you have a few extra bucks! Love the build!!! Keep it up man!

I realise this is an old video but just going to have a yarn for shits and giggles. I did similar (but not) to an old Nissan safari 4wd. I removed the factory controller and simply wired a bunch of relays into the solenoids and inhibitor switch. Basically the trans became fully manual and you would shift by moving through 1st, 2nd, D and then by pushing the OD button while in D to get 4th. It worked extremely well. The factory controller would provide a signal to the line pressure solenoid to drop pressure during shifts - I just left that completely u powered so I had 100 % line pressure all the time. Shit it worked flawlessly! But absolutely no safety mechanisms so you could go far too easily to 1st gear at any speed 😂😂. I now have a 3.5l v6 corolla (Toyota blade) with a shit trans so thinking about using an arduino to do it moving forward.....just so much more complex with the CAN system

Might be able to manuel swap with a manuel v6 accord trans if it does go out.

Yup, that's the plan. Either an Accord 6MT, or a TL-S 6MT to get an LSD. Even if the auto doesn't break, I'd like to do a manual swap at some point. It's just such a huge project, so naturally it won't happen for a while.

@@tnast actually, if you want to retain that engine, you'd want to go with a LSD 6mt from an 04-06 TL. The 07-08 type S TLs actually had a revised bell housing pattern!

Hey bro, I’m trying to do the same thing with an Arduino controller I have certain solenoids that I have to power in a combination one through six up-and-down with two separate buttons gear up button and gear down, but of course you know how to do all that what I need is the code and maybe a wiring schematic. I’m very new to coding but I have a pretty good idea of how to wear this thing up and how it’s gonna work and what needs to be put into the code. I just don’t know how to say it.😂 get back to me🏎️🏎️💨🧪🧪🧪
