Sandman is the living embodiment of Dreaming. At the start of the universe, before there was life, mortal or Gods, there was this family known as The Endless: Destiny, Death, Destruction, Dream, Desire, Despair, and Delight.

Nitpicking a bit here, but I think they came into existence parallel with sentient life, as embodiments of the abstractions that govern intelligent existence. Thus, Destiny came first, then Death, then Dream, and so on and so forth. This is why they're actually more powerful than the gods; gods need people's belief to exist. The Endless don't need your belief; your actual existence and the ideas embodied in it manifest them. Which is mind blowing.

Sandman is pretty amazing. They asked Neil Gaiman to write a "modern adaptation" of the Golden Age Sandman character, Wesley Dodds, and he ended up creating a whole new mythology that delves into all-but-forgotten DC characters and books. It won all kinds of awards and set a new bar for comic book entertainment, and this teaser shows that they're planning to be extremely faithful to the storyline in the original comics.
@0okamino
3 жыл бұрын
I always loved that he even wrapped it back around so that there was a connection between Dream and the Golden Age character. Then, of course, there was also _Sandman Mystery Theater_ which did center around Wesley Dodds. Man, I miss that era of Vertigo Comics.

The scene with the woman walking into the sliding door was so relatable because when I was a kid, one of my aunt’s best friends did that at a family cookout and me and one of my younger cousins fell on the floor laughing because she took the entire door off the track and knocked it in. We were laughing so hard that our mothers were pinching us to make us stop laughing but it was too hilarious. She made this god awful noise when she hit the door and we just kept doing it the rest of the night, it sounded like a male moose cumming 😂🤣😂🤣 boowahhhhherer!!! We’d wait till the party got quite and just do the noise, our moms made us leave. I was like where do you want us to go and they said just away 😂🤣😂🤣

"Licorice Pizza" was slang used in the 70's for a long-playing (LP) record. Generally made of black vinyl. "LP" was the short form for "Long Play" and they kinda looked like a pizza made with black licorice, thus the term "licorice pizza". I think it's going to be a great film. Possibly even a sleeper hit. The two leads DO look like real people but still have a fair bit of camera charisma. The acting feels very believable in the trailer. I wonder exactly how old the two characters are supposed to be as Cooper Hoffman was 17 and Alana Haim was 28 (doesn't look it) during filming. I get the sense that her character is supposed to be a few years older that him, but not sure.
