I love your upper Midwest calmness. So many are breathlessly proclaiming getting rich overnight. I appreciate your openness and honesty. I have been inspired to embark on the POD journey inspired by you and a few others of course. I wanted to thank you for your frankness and for letting us all remember that success takes diligence but with consistency and careful consideration it can become a full-time job. that is my goal. Not to become wealthy but to be self-sufficient and I have meager needs. This might be a good fit for a burned-out Army Veteran and Hospice nurse.

Hey, Mandy. This video is so priceless so valuable. Thank you very much. In your video, the content of 7 minutes and 31 seconds displays tag analysis. I would like to know which metric you use as a reference when selecting tags from these competitors? (Views, Favorites, Competition, Sales) I'm thinking, should I start by the one with the highest sales ranking?

Thanx again Mandy! Your tips are priceless really! I just used etsyhunt and realized that most popular shirts does not use in tags same word combinations as in title. Looks like I did it wrong - in tags I always used same words as in title and just few new words. Must say that my search stats is very bad. What do you think - should we use different words in tags, not the same ones that are in the title?

Mandy..can this be a full replacement for Ever bee? I would love to get the same information for free. That would be a game changer.
@studiomdesignsco
Жыл бұрын
In my opinion yes! Some people prefer the layout/workflow of Everbee which is totally fine, but I like that I can scroll through Etsy without clicking anything and see data at-a-glance, so for the way my brain works I prefer the EH view. I do pay for the Basic EH subscription as well (which is still cheaper at only $3.99/month currently) and with that I get deeper data when I click into listings and want to see further performance. The extension itself is free though and I do not feel like I am missing any of the primary features of EverBee (EH just doesn't look quite as flashy lol).

This is great! Do you have any videos on using this (or any other research tools) to first research trends that are on the rise.. That maybe I worldly know of? Ie.. For someone (not met lol) who didn't have young kids.. So maybe isn't familiar with kawaii or anime... How would they find these trends before they're saturated?

Totally understand! I have a video in the works on how I use erank to discover new and different ideas that aren’t over saturated that I think will really help! 😊

These look like great tools, but does anyone know if they REPLACE EverBee or can be used in conjunction with it??
@studiomdesignsco
Жыл бұрын
Functionality of EtsyHunt is going to be similar to EverBee (both are great for product and competition research) and both have good Chrome extension tools. eRank to me is different and is better for niche and trend research, and I use it conjunction with either of the Chrome extension tools 😊

The chrome extensions are free and will show estimated views, sales, tags, etc. You have to make sure you’re logged into EtsyHunt when using it (I find that sometimes I have to go back to the site and log in again). Etsy Hunt also has additional site features that fall under their paid plan, but the extension itself is free.

I tested it out on my shop and the data was way off with the sales figures. Has anyone else tested it out on their shops? Was it accurate for 7-day sales and total sales figures? Mine was so off.
@studiomdesignsco
Жыл бұрын
That can happen sometimes. Etsy releases very limited data to 3rd party systems like these, which means it’s often a combination of direct Etsy data + 3rd party user generated data that all gets built into proprietary algorithms that these software companies then build. Which unfortunately makes them all a little different 🤓 Etsy Hunt generally does a pretty good job, but every once in awhile I find interesting anomalies like these (and have seen the same thing happen with eRank, EverBee, etc)

Thanks, Mandy, for this. I had gotten the Etsy Hunt extension, but hadn't consistently used it. I bit more info on your strategy here, please. The example you showed did have excellent sales but every competition box was solid red. As a new seller, would you move on having seen that and seek out a less competitive item, or would you jump in by including name custoization like your sample's seller ?? With hundreds of tshirt options and niches, how much emphasis do you put on competition data?
@studiomdesignsco

Great questions!! Typically if I see a trending design style or particular niche that is selling well, I will do 1 of 2 things (or sometimes both, depending on which of my shops I'm working in). One option is to make a personalized version of it and change up the design slightly. Then I take the competitive tags and add "personalized" or "customized" to the beginning of it so that I can still take advantage of those popular searches and stand a chance of ranking slightly higher over time. So for example "mama sweatshirt" - I would turn that into a long-tail phrase in the title like "Personalized mama sweatshirt gift for mom". The other approach, and one that works well for newer sellers in particular - is to take that design style, put a spin on it, and then attempt to reach a narrower (niche) audience. So using the same example of "mama sweatshirt", I could narrow that audience down to "girl mama sweatshirt" or "volleyball mama sweatshirt". If I really wanted to get crafty I could combine the approaches with "personalized volleyball mama sweatshirt". By combining more niche-specific keywords with high-competition keywords it can help you reach more targeted audiences (and over time as those sell you would then start to rank higher and potentially break into those saturated searches). I do take competition data into consideration when it comes to keyword searches - if something is way over saturated (like a generic "mom shirt") it tells me that I need to find a way to take a deeper dive into that niche if I want to stand any chance of getting found. If I ignore competition data and make something in one of those overly saturated searches with generic keywords, then I will likely find myself disappointed because my newer listing in a sea of already-high-ranking listings likely won't perform well. Hope that helps! :)

@Kim Andreano Totally agree! Etsy Hunt has been around for awhile and most platforms all connect with the Etsy API. The Etsy API only supplies a certain amount of data to these sites, so what makes them each different is how their proprietary algorithms work that they build to analyze the data from Etsy. I personally love that I can see everything at a glance with Etsy Hunt while browsing Etsy as normal without having to click or sort anything 😊
