Are you wondering why your Power Wheels battery is not charging? Before you go and replace the battery, watch this video first.
It demonstrates a quick way to determine if your battery or your charge is bad.
When the battery if fully charged, it should read between 12.7 and 13.5 VDC.
You will need the following.
- Multimeter
- Power Wheel battery
- Power Wheel charger
How To Test The Battery In a Nutshell
- Set your multimeter to DC voltage (max at 20VDC)
- Touch the battery leads with multimeter electrodes (negative to negative, positive to positive).
- Your battery should read above 10VDC. Anything below 10VDC, the battery is dead and cannot be charged.
How To Test The Battery Charger In a Nutshell
- Set your multimeter to DC voltage (max at 20VDC)
- Touch the charger connector with multimeter electrodes (negative to negative, positive to positive).
- The charger should read about 14VDC (for charger rated to charge a 12VDC battery). Anything less than 13VDC, the charger will not be able to charge the battery.
