The stuff you're calling grass is called chara. I did an aquatic plant survey a while back with a local fisheries staffer and remembered that one since iit's so prevalent in central MN. I've seen plenty of weed walleyes snorkeling in MN. We go to Manitoba and snorkel spearfish for walleye, and I got some in the weeds last year for the first time. Keep up the fun and educational vids.

Yes! This is what I was looking for! That’s what I always called it, but didn’t know if that was what it was actually called so I just stick with grass. 😂 Appreciate that insight! Also, snorkeling is big time on my to do list. Would love to see what’s really below these lakes!

@@tjsguideservice Yes, get yourself a basic snorkel kit, some flippers, and mask and snorkel. Be sure to spit lots of spit foam into each dry mask lens and use fingers to spread it all around the lenses, then dip in briefly for a rinse, then shake water out and put your mask on and you'll be fog free. People struggle with fogging. Then jump in and swim lily pad weed lines, and deeper weed humps and drops, and you'll enjoy seeing the fish in their world. You can also take a crappy rod and put 3-4 ft of line on with a jig and plastic, and fish for bluegills and bass, watching them respond to your offering. Crappies are more finicky, but i have caught a couple if they are feisty on a weed line. Rivers and below dams are fun to swim too, but not right now with so much water flowing. Keep up the fun adventures.

How many northers or bass do you have to fight off when doing this tactic of fishing weed for eyes?

Also thought id mention/recommend the hercules handcuff from arc labs for your livescope pole! My scanning/running and gunning style I would say is likely very similar to yours and having that hercules cuff is an absolute game changer for pole stability! The ability to idle at 5mph with your pole staying completely vertical is absolutely amazing and lets me cover water extremely fast, i know when I used to fish without it the bend in the pole while going at higher scanning speeds was extremely frustrating!
@tjsguideservice
