This audio essay is about Susanna Zaraysky learning as an adult that despite the two operations to straighten her crossed eyes, Susanna was partially blind. She did vision therapy to rewire her brain to see in more depth.
About 3% of the population has crossed eyes or a lazy eye and doesn't see in 3D. Even more people don't see in depth because of nystagmus, cataracts, blindness in one eye or other vision conditions. However, many eye doctors neglect to tell patients about the impact of limited depth perception (trouble driving, playing sports, walking downstairs and any activity requiring hand-eye coordination).
