Looks like the time change is messing with KZitem's timing of this video. I set it for 7:15 but looks like KZitem wants it to go out at 8:15. I'm going to leave it at that because of the time change 7:15 seams a bit too early.

Back when we could visit Canada with no restrictions or visas, Harrison lake and Harrison Hot springs was a special vacation spot for us! Lots of BC Jade as well as other goodies...Looking forward to the days when I can come back up!!

Speaking of 'getting out in the wilderness', yesterday, I had the opportunity to go out to one of my favorite KZitemrs 70 acre property, in Otter Creek FL, and enjoy his creek, that's full of ancient fossils...where they pulled out a huge mammoth bone last week! "Whatthehales", is the channel. What a treat that was!🙂

Me too, used to prospect for Gold on Humbug creek and it was loaded with Garnets. Deep blood reds, pinks, purples, oranges, even a few greens.

I found a nice chunk stuck in some host rock out in Colorado, im new to rock hounding and geology in general so I may have misidentified it as garnet when it could be some dark rose quartz or something.

Looks warm up yonder. Currently watching in the middle of a blizzard in colorado. Have probably 10 inches so far and possibly 2 more days of snow. Get it while the getting is good!

Harrison lake is so unique. I've found some amazing fossils on the west side...donated a large one to the Royal BC Museum. The geology in the area is so awesome!

Hey! Is Barton's mine available to the public? Im across the lake in the Burlington, Vt area and have been wanting to explore some new places to go rockhounding! Also in general, im fairly new to all of this, so if you have any location recommendations please send them my way! Ive been up to the champlain islands a fair bit and have found several types of fossils, quartz, and citrine, but am hoping to find some other goodies!

Coming down Heavy or coming up light may be important things to know when listening to heavy truck traffic. You get to hang in beautiful places Dan. I don't believe you would be sitting at home playing video games. Have you ever sat still? I would make the world's worst helper in that country, you'd be slaving I'd be fly fishing! Garnetts intrigue me! Do they come from eroding formations? Good to see you upright and living life again! Blessings to you and your wonderful family!

Not sure it works like that - dunno how Canada handles it. But I believe that the prospector doesn't "own" the land they claim. The state or private entity granting the claim does. But he does "own" the rights to the minerals or metals found on the claim, and can only improve it (build) in direct support of granted mining operations. So he can't "live" on a claim. An experienced prospector can correct me if I'm wrong.

All Americans can Claim Up to 10 20 acre claims in zones that are open for mineral exploration. Homestead act 1879, dept interior 👌 with 5 acre mill sites, roads to and from claim a fence and you can use the lumber for infrastructure.

Down here there's a garnet 💎 called Ant-Hill Garnet 🐜 from an area of land on a reservation that the natives go out and collect them from ant hills..🐜. It seems Ants don't care for them..🐜🐜🐜. 🤣

My buddy, and I years ago found tons of those red gems out first time going out panning for gold. It was the first place we ever tried, it was a small stream coming out of an old rock quarry that was shut down back after the storm of 1938. We didn't know what the red gems were so we tossed them aside. Love the channel by the way!

Can’t wait. I have a hard rock garnet deposit in western Idaho Rockies that I like to hit up. It’s a beautiful, 1.5 meter thick pegmatite, but the garnets are not as clear.

Newish subscriber here! I'm from New Zealand, so a fair different selection of rocks (especially where I live, mostly sandstone and former wetland haha) but I find all of this stuff fascinating! Your genuine enthusiasm for the trade and infectious joy for what you do shines through in your videos like a beacon! Very glad to see you taking the time to recover from your surgery, and I can relate to just how much difference a bit of time away from proper wilderness can help it take your breath away!
