This brings tears to my eyes really, because at some point in time we all all meet the same fate in the ground, small marker that soon no one will care about covered in debris. What I never knew is that the time seemed so far, FAR away when I was a child and now I look back on it all and it seemed to pass at super sonic speed. I looked into a mirror last week and asked myself "who is that guy". I look nothing like I did a few short yeas ago as age ravages the body. All I can do is the best I can with what little time I have remaining. I wish you all luck.

A long time fan of exploring cemetaries since my earliest years in life. Was called a morbid child in my youth due to this practice. Found solace and peace in those places -- a temporary respite from a tortured childhood. This passion has remained with me throughout my life and now toward the end of my time on this marvelous earth I'm still traveling about exploring the final resting places of those who have left us in good time or too soon. I'd like to see Townes' gravestone before I pass. I'd like to spend some time there and play one or two of his songs there. Thank you for posting this video. An Oregon nomad 🌲💗🐶🐺💗🌲

I took my guitar along, and after I shot this video I played him one of my songs that was inspired by his take on Dead Flowers and then Waiting Around to Die. On the last verse of Waiting, it began to rain pretty heavily. I definitely recommend making the trip when you can.

Thank you for posting this! I feel like I've been there too, and paid my respects to this wonderful artist. I met this great man many years ago after a wonderful performance in Konstanz. I just remember this humility, this incredible gentleness and appreciation of the stir he was creating. It was as if he didn't fully credit it all to himself. I didn't know him and his music well at that time, and didn't realise what an incredible honour and privilege it was to meet him until after he passed away and it was in all the music papers. But I know now. God bless you and keep you, Mr Van Zandt. May your soul have found love, light, peace and joy everlasting. Thank you for your music. You always understood.

As one of the people who consume his art from what I could tell read and seen about him. He chose that path to tell stories about people with bad luck and that were invisible and forgotten.. I was fortunate to see him one time with Lightning Hopkins in the early seventies. And then once I had an encounter with him and Blaze Foley at Kirby Lane when I was a cook. I felt they were kind of disrespectful and I just left. But I cherish the memory. I hear on the down low that his son is more of an artist than a singer he does a little artwork that I guess nobody knows about.
