Lordy, as someone who has delved deep DEEP into Kingdom Hearts, it is so funny to see someone just expose themselves to the openings in a completely random order. As if the series isn't tricky enough for an outsider to understand, you went ahead and just set the experience to Critical Difficulty lmao In case someone hasn't told you already, there are now technically 14 playable games, and they are spread across a very wide range of platforms, including consoles, handheld consoles, and phones. Of those 14 games, 10 are considered the core games that make up the story (possibly 11 if we count the newest mobile game that came out last year?). Each of those 10 games has a different animated Opening, many of which reuse songs, but all of which have intros that relate to that specific game. And THEN there are also the Secret Ending animations you get at the end of each game that are Animated Teasers for the next game hat was coming out at the time, and they are animated like their own mini movies. To this very day, the Secret Ending to Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix is the COOLEST animated short film I have EVER seen from a video game series. Oh right-- The Final Mixes! So those are re-releases of a game that include a good chunk of new content as well as both the English and Japanese Dubs for the player to choose from. They were basically DLC before DLC was so commonly done in video games (Yes Kingdom Heats is that old lol). Gosh I could talk about Kingdom Hearts for hours-- There's SO much there! AAHHH Love it! XD

To answer your question the keyblade is one of the most powerful weapons in all of video games but depends on the users creativity some examples are It can transform into other weapons, it can deflect lasers and even block lightsaber attacks, it also works a magic wand combined with a staff, it can transform into Vehicles, it can open portals through time, space and dimensions, it can steal people's souls, it can choose what to cut through so it can be blunt to simply defeat targets or it can be sharp enough to slice through multiple buildings at once and its indestructible only fake keyblades can break. it has more powers but those are a few examples oh it can also unlock any and i do mean ANY lock
@declanmckenna6854
4 күн бұрын
Not only that but Keyblades also have a bit of sentiance and seem to store a piece of the user's Heart so that if the user dies and key survives some of the user's essence can live on and still interact with the world in specific ways. Also my favorite tidbit about the locking/unlocking ability is that you can either shoot a beam at the lock, or just tap the blade against it.

The Openings are recaps of the previous games. Thats why there are multiple groups of people that dont seem to be connected or what u called it seems like different timelines. Thats why they where back on that island because it was just a short: "Last time on Kingdom Hearts" thing. For someone who doesnt know anything about the games it doesnt explain anything, but they actually summarize the plot of each game very nicely.

The best way to explain the openings is that it shows a extremely abbreviated version of the story up to that point and then teases what's going to happen in the story of that game so in my opinion is actually one of the best ways to do an opening because it teases what's going to happen while also refreshing your memory of what has happened and also welcome to the community this bizarre fandom that is Kingdom Hearts if you truly are interested in playing the game I highly recommend it and strap yourself in for one Wild Ride

yeah this opening is totally a spoiler bomb, since the openings have a tendency to summarize event from the past games. also the falling from the sky, and stained glass, has been part of the series since KH1. also fun fact , this op song was partly written by Skrillex, hence the more electronic sound compared to KH1/2 the island is there home Sora, kairi (pink girl) .and riku's (gray hair boy in yellow) home, it's where the tutorial takes place in KH1, and pops up every once in a while for story purposes. i know someone else mentioned it but if you plan to play the games, you can't do1->2->3, without being absolutely lost, since the series had a tendency to put a lot of the story in the side games, which isn't a problem if you buy the collections, which is the standard nowadays, there are 3 collection leading up to KH 3, 1.5, 2.5, and 2.8. there are also two different ways to play the series, release order, or chronology, but i think release order is more fun since, it keeps the mysteries intact. also i don't remember if you asked in the last KH reaction but sephiroth is in the series as a hidden boss

It is a crazy idea and it's one that came about in a literal elevator pitch. Square enix wanted an answer to super Mario 64 but didn't have anyone that could rival Mario. Square enix happened to be in the same building as Disney in Japan so a square exec pitched it to a Disney exec in the elevator and it went from there.

1:38 a producer of square, and a producer of Disney shared office space in a single building. The square execs were impressed with Super Mario 64’s success, and wanted to make. New title of their own, but figured that it would take Disney’s star power to compete. One day, staff of Disney and square shared an elevator, and square pitched the idea, and it was a hit with them. And so kingdom hearts was made, after some workshopping. Tae Yasue told Tetsuya nomura that the franchise would flop if they didn’t make it like Star Wars. That is why kh1 is simple and straightforward, while every other game had insane and confusing anoints if world building. Due to Star Wars’ “mystery box” philosophy. That is to say, pose questions/poke plotholes,,, but ask more questions, as you answer the questions you posed/addressed the holes.

About the lack of a themepark attraction, Its likely because Square Enix still holds the copyright to anything non disney related in the games, that being the main cast, all the enemies and then all of the final fantasy characters. That said i heard that the original main character was more animal like to fit in with disney but instead of a key blade, it was a chainsaw sword EDIT: OH SHIT! This is the song that Zentreya covered from Vshojo (i say covered, shes more like a vocaloid! BUT still!) So kingdom hears 2 released back in 2006, Kingdom hearts 3 released in 2019, thirteen years later. THAT SAID, there were other side games and final mix versions which have new content released between them. To answer your question on nerration at the start, that is Sora and he has aged up with each mainline game! Square enix sells that chessboard.... its uhh.. yea its BEAUTIFUL but very expensive 8:04 would be seasalt icecream Edit2: You really need to play the series, knowing what i do from our little journey, you would laugh at the first game in parts, but still be invested and then be hooked for the other 8...

Sora's two friends are Riku (the silver-haired boy) and Kairi (the girl). The boy from the Kingdom Hearts 2 opening people told you was 'Sora but not Sora' is named Roxas. If you remove the letter x from Roxas, you can rearrange the remaining letters and get Sora. This is not a coincidence or an accident, nor is it a meaningless fact. The blonde-haired boy seen alongside the blue-haired woman (named Aqua) and the brown-haired man (named Terra) is not Roxas. His name is Ventus. Ventus and Roxas are different characters with different personalities, but like the quirk with Roxas' name, the fact that Roxas and Ventus look the same is neither coincidence nor accident, nor is it a meaningless fact. Roxas is the blonde-haired boy later seen in a leather coat with the red-haired man (Axel) and the black-haired girl (Xion). The silver-haired boy (who is not Riku) playing chess throughout this opening is named Xehanort. The old man is also Xehanort. They are the same character. Speaking of, when Terra's hair turns silver after being 'sucked into' that dark smoke, he's Xehanort. Specifically the old Xehanort did a ritual and possessed Terra's body. It's Terra's body but Terra's will has been suppressed by Xehanort's. The series calls this incarnation of Xehanort 'Terra-Xehanort', but fans call him 'Terranort'. That fan-name is the origin of the fanbase-specific term 'Norting', because Xehanort would go on to put himself into multiple people, with the stated intent to 'turn them into Xehanort'. The Kingdom Hearts 3 Opening was a trip down memory lane for those who played the entire series so far. It's a quick beat summary of the series in chronological order. The three characters shown first are from Birth By Sleep, which is a prequel; taking place a whole decade before the first game. Those three characters are Terra (the brown-haired man), Ventus (the blonde-haired boy), and Aqua (the blue-haired woman). Kingdom Hearts 3 was the end of the first story arc of the Kingdom Hearts series, and the old guy was the arc villain. The tall guy Riku turns into and the guy you thought was Sephiroth for a moment are like vestiges of him; new beings that came into existence as a result of the old guy experimenting on himself. The guy Riku turns into calls himself Ansem, but that's an assumed name. Specifically a stolen name. After taking Terra's body, Xehanort became an apprentice to a man named Ansen as a cover and to acquire the means to further his plans. He ended up banishing Ansem to the Realm of Darkness (darkness and light are real, tangible forces in the Kingdom Hearts-verse, and the realm where most of the story so far takes place is called the Realm of Light in-universe), and assumed Ansem's name in order to have the freedom to conduct experiments he'd previously been forbidden from conducting as an apprentice by Ansem. This guy doesn't have a name of his own other than Xehanort. He's a being known as a Heartless, which is a physical manifestation of primordial darkness. The guy you thought was Sephiroth for a moment is named Xemnas, and he's what's known as a Nobody. Rather than darkness or light, Nobodies are beings defined by an absence of both darkness and light (called 'the in-between' or 'nothingness' in-universe). If you remove the letter x from Xemnas, you can rearrange the remaining letters and get Ansem. Just like with Roxas, this is neither coincidence nor accident, and it's not a meaningless fact. In fact, the two are related, and it's a matter of surprising importance during the first story arc. The x in these names is actually the greek letter 'chi' (pronounced 'qi' or 'key'). Roxas is also a Nobody. Nobodies are created when someone becomes a Heartless, and the Nobody that is created is said to be the Nobody of the person who turned into a Heartless. If a Nobody has a name with an x in it, and removing the x and rearranging the letters can make the name of another character in the series, that Nobody is the Nobody of the person who's name you can make through this process. In short, Roxas is Sora's Nobody. This is what people mean when they say Roxas is 'Sora but not Sora'. It's based on something someone in-universe says about Xemnas. 'He is Ansem, yet he is not Ansem'. Ansem in this case being Xehanort having assumed the name Ansem. Xehanort's Heartless who calls himself Ansem is the main antagonist/final boss of the first game. Xemnas is the main antagonist/final boss of Kingdom Hearts 2. Both of them are relegated to Old Xehanort's lackeys in Kingdom Hearts 3. Kingdom Hearts 2 is actually the third game in the series in release order, because there's a canon interlude called Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. People thought Chain of Memories was an unimportant side game because it was on the Game Boy Advance, but then Kingdom Hearts 2 came out and they were confused. As it turns out, Chain of Memories sets up multiple plot points for later resolution. The antagonist group of Kingdom Hearts 2 is introduced in this interlude and their numbers are actually cut down by almost half before the end of it. It also shows why Sora is out of commission at the start of Kingdom Hearts 2, as represented in the Kingdom Hearts 2 opening by the blonde girl (Namine) putting Sora to sleep by drawing it in her sketchbook. Finally, it serves as the beginning of Riku's redemption arc after his turn to the dark side that led to him turning into the one vestige of the old guy who's the final boss of the first game. Chain of Memories had two stories. The first had the player controlling Sora, and after completing it the second was unlocked where players controlled Riku. The pink-haired man with the scythe is named Marluxia, and he is the main antagonist/final boss of Sora's story. Marluxia is another instance of a name where if you remove the letter x (or rather the greek letter 'chi') you can rearrange the remaining letters and get the name of another character in the series. The main antagonist/final boss of Riku's story is Xehanort's Heartless who's still inside him, the final battle being a 'battle in the center of the mind' kind of thing. The key Sora swings around is called a Keyblade, and it's one of many metaphysical weapons that were forged in the image of an ancient weapon of myth called the X-blade (the X in X-blade is the greek letter 'chi' just like the X in certain characters' names). Keyblades come in many appearances though they're all at least vaguely key-shaped. The reason Keyblades are used as melee weapons is because they can cut darkness. The edge that cuts darkness is metaphysical. Keyblades (and the X-blade) are the only weapons that can kill Heartless. Other forms of combat can cause them to dematerialize in a way that looks like they've been killed, as they turn into dark smoke just like when a Keyblade cuts them, but if they weren't slain by a Keyblade they just reform elsewhere in the Realm of Light. When a Heartless is cut by the Keyblade though, that dark smoke returns to the primordial darkness. Sora's Keyblade 'model' is called the Kingdom Key, and of all the Keyblades in the series it's the one that's closest in appearance to the X-blade. The X-blade's hilt is two Kingdom Keys crossed, and an actual sword-type blade extends from the space between these crossed blades. The crossed Kingdom Keys are representative of the X-blade being an object of duality. It's made up of both light and darkness. Though I called the X-blade a weapon, it also has a function akin to the name of the weapons based on it, that of a key. This function is actually what the X-blade is most known for, and probably inspired the name Keyblade for the weapons made in its image. The X-blade is specifically the key to Kingdom Hearts. Kingdom Hearts is both an eldritch location and an eldritch entity. It's called the First Light in-universe, and Xehanort's goal throughout his arc was to forge the X-blade and use it to unlock Kingdom Hearts in order to reset the universe.

Between 2 and 3 ? 19 years if I'm not mistaking. There was a lot of other "spin off" games that came between them, all important for the story. I would recommand watching the "Birth By Sleep" and the "Dream Drop Distance" intros. This one is mostly a recap of most previous games so it has a huge nostalgic and symbolic theme attached to it. Basically, the keyblade is a weapon that can unlock a lot of things, like someone's heart, and is an important factor to getting to Kingdom Hearts, the gathering of all hearts. It would be a lot to explain ^^ But yeah, it's mostly a sword that allows Sora to use magic too, and there are a lot of them, like customization based on which Disney world you visit in the game.

Sora's KH1 design is based on Mickey Mouse and that's where the big shoes come from. As the story goes, Square in the late 90's was looking for a competitor to Mario after the release of Super Mario 64 and the only other fictional character popular enough was Mickey Mouse. As it happens, at the time the Square Soft and Disney offices were in the same building. So on an elevator ride they pitched the idea to a Disney executive. The Keyblade while a blunt object in appearance is magical and is a weapon of light. It can lock or unlock any lock both physical or metaphysical. I'll let you try and wrap your head around that without giving any more detail.

The funny thing about Kingdom Hearts is that there's like 5 games between 2 and 3, that's where all these different characters come from. KH3 is less a straightforward sequel and more the end of a big story arc that sprawls several games. The opening basically goes through a stylized version of the events as edgy boy plays chess. I think they initially didn't plan to make so many games between 2 and 3, so they started giving them non-numbered titles, then realized as they made more that they had to save 3 for the big one that tied everything together. Then like 10 years went by. Moving forward they're probably going to do numbered way more often, given there was only one non-numbered game (+one mobile game) and the next one is KH4 already.
@BaconNuke
2 күн бұрын
It's sad they'll start numbering more often, tbh part of the charm I saw with the non-numbered titles was they always seemed to have *something* "non-traditional" with them (ie non-sora playable characters or a gimmick like *shudders* the ReCom/Com card system) and then the big numbers are the "okay time to tie things back up" Like I kinda wish they still had to do wacky titles and be forced to save the numbers to be the big peaks in an arc
@42Caio
2 күн бұрын
@@BaconNuke I think when they do games with non-standard gameplay they will still go non-numbered, like with Melody of Memory. But with how costly game development is nowadays and with less consoles to develop to (a lot of the ideas for these games came from "how would Kingdom hearts on this system play like?") I think it's inevitable.

As someone who loves KH it always annoys me that KH2 is the 3rd game and KH3 is like the 15th or something. The 14 years between KH2 and KH3 were a mess and it's not over yet, KH3 was released 5 years ago and we still have no news about when KH4 will be released (only that announcement teaser at 2021).

I kinda almost don’t want you to read the comments just to see if you can piece the world and story of KH just through the OPs alone.

Kingdom Hearts 3 came out in 2019. Kingdom Hearts 2 was from 2005. Kingdom Hearts 1 was 2002. But don't let that big gap confuse you, there was one game released between 1 and 2 (Chain of Memories, 2004) and several released between 2 and 3 (Coded in 2008, 358 Days/2 in 2009, Birth By Sleep in 2010, Dream Drop Distance in 2012), not to mention the browser game of Union X in 2015, and multiple rereleases (all with Re: at the start) If you only know the "mainline games", you'll only get like a quarter of the story.

@rabaaquest5787 In my own Personal Opinion, Kingdom Hearts 3 Ruined the entire Series for me. It's certainly not worse than Kingdom Hearts: Coded, but it's still my Third Least Favorite Kingdom Hearts Game. But if YOU Love Kingdom Hearts 3, then Good..! Keep Loving it, Fam..! There is A LOT to Love about Kingdom Hearts 3. It even has some of my FAVORITE Keyblades in the ENTIRE SERIES..! And some of the Disney Worlds ARE SO GOOD Story Wise besides Frozen. Like Monsters Inc and Toy Story are EASILY some of my Favorites in Kingdom Hearts 3..! But yeah..! In my own Personal, Subjective Opinion, it Ruined The Entire Story for me. It all Started with "Coded" and UnionXCross (Or Whatever It's Called) though. So Kingdom Hearts 3 Certainly wasn't the Entire Cause of why I'm only In Love with Five Kingdom Hearts Games rather than all of them.
