I often flip a Texas rigged 3” pit boss, 6” dead ringer, or 7” power worm with a 3/0 G-Lock hook and 3/16oz tungsten weight. Sometimes even drop to 1/8 oz with a 5” grub or tube.

I absolutely love your videos. Very clear and comprehensive. Can be applied by pros as well as weekend anglers. Keep up the great work.

I only carry two ewg hooks. A 1/0, and a 3/0. When they’re not biting the bigger Texas rig, almost always they’ll bite the smaller one. Grubs and shad stye plastics work great on the 1/0 🤝

What power of rod are you using?

Ill add…. What power AND action AND length rod for these lighter Texas rigged lures.

I would assume a 6’10-7’3 medium fast action casting rod, maybe spinning?

earlier this year was having a tough day and put on a smallie beaver with an 8th ounce weight. started catching them. then I hooked into a 4 or 5 but got off. that got my attention tho. man this thing catches numbers and bigs apparently.

We use as light of a weight as possible in order to maintain the action of the lure. Some baits seem to require a little heavier weight to make the tail/craws to kick enough when falling. Wind may cause us to go heavier sometimes, too.

Gotta say I love the videos and tips I try them almost every weekend when I try to make it to the lake however I’m mainly fishing from the bank but I do usually bring four different rods and it may just be where I’m fishing but I can’t get a single bait no matter what I try. I’m not even mainly targeting bass, I’m just trying to get a bite with my kids. I live down in eastern Kentucky and I’ve been told it’s tough fishing on Laurel river lake and that it’s mainly a night fishing lake. It’s all good though one of these days I’ll hook into a good one. Keep up the videos.

I’ve gone to a braid with heavy leader also for this style - long leader. So long that on a short flip, I may not get into the braid!

Watermelon Red Speed Craw, staple here in South LA.

Have you tried the Ozark rig? I like it for when the bass want something really slow falling or when they are feeding near the surface and won't hit a top water. It makes a lot of crawl or beaver style baits fall horizontally and really slow.

Tyler, Are you always pegging your weight?

For the longest time I hardly ever used more than 1/8 oz on my T-rigs. The first time I bumped up to 3/16 was when I ran out of 1/8. I mix it up a lot more these days. 😂
