Awesome video Adam, and I agree, it never gets old!!! Wait until you see what's coming next! I've had my eye on that speed shrimp mold for a while now, it looks extremely versatile, never would have thought of it as a topwater bait! I'm curious, when you make topwater baits like this and the frogs, do you use floating plastic? Or just rely on the fast continuous retrieve to keep it floating and on the surface?
@SDGCustomLurecraft
4 ай бұрын
Can’t wait to see/use the new stuff! 🎉🎉 WRT the plastic, 242 is neutrally buoyant so a stick bait on a weightless wacky will float, but any weight will start the drop. Given that I don’t pause a bait like this on the retrieve I don’t bother with floating plastic or floating additives. That said… I do need to take a hollow body frog out there and toss it around… let it sit and quiver LOL!

How do I found out what size wire to order; since there is 3 options on that wire bender.
@SDGCustomLurecraft
4 ай бұрын
I used .035 for this build, but you can use up to 0.040 without swapping out parts for thicker wire (there is a muskie bait/thick wire upgrade kit available so you can bend 0.050+). I've also used 0.029 in it, no problem at all. So, the wire itself is personal preference and build-dependent. I could have used 0.029 on this finesse rig and been completely fine. Some guys like 0.040 wire on their spinnerbaits because 0.035 bends too much when you get bit... you have to re-bend and fix it all the time. Others, vice verse... they like 0.035 because of the flex and feel it gives the bait more movement - the re-bending is worth it. So, like I said... it really is personal preference - fortunately, that commercial bender will handle all those without the need to swap out parts.

Cool video. But i have a question about the plastisol you're using? Im currently using do-it molds plastisol. And the baits i make tend to get very oily after sitting in the bait bags for a while. So i was wondering what brand plastisol you use and are you having any of the same issues?
@SDGCustomLurecraft
4 ай бұрын
Thx man! I use BaitPlastics 242 Low Odor Ultra Clear - once I found it I never looked back. I’ve used Do-It plastisol before… Do-It has a lot of things going for it in the lead mold area, love a bunch of their stuff… but plastisol, IMO, is definitely NOT one of their strengths. Try a sample pack from BaitPlastics - it will change your life :)

@@SDGCustomLurecraft how is your personal stash of baits you keep in your tackle, do they stay pretty dry or do they get oily over time? Or is that just something that normally happens with every plastisol?
