Hi all. This time, I will explain about finger independence.
When you play the piano, you often hear the phrase "finger independence", but don't you think that you train your fingers to be independent, especially weak fingers?
Hmm, finger independence... What does independence mean to be independent?
One of the things that is often tried is to make the arms and fingers independent. For example, there is training to fix the arm and move only the fingers. Or, while holding down a certain sound, moving your fingers, etc... I think this will allow me to move only my fingers, but when I did it once, my hand hurts and I couldn't play the piano for a while. So, I feel that the disadvantages outweigh the merits. So I'm prioritizing other methods over this one.
If "the arm and fingers are not independent", then what is the finger independent of?
Fingers and fingers stand apart!
In order to do so, we aim to have each finger take a posture that coordinates with the body, so that the fingers and fingers can move independently and freely. In other words, I believe that the independence of the fingers is not to move the fingers by fixing the arm, but to the state in which the arm can be actively moved only by making the arm in a free state and making various muscles interlocked.
In order to do so, I think that by taking a position where each finger can move easily and placing it in the ideal position while making fine adjustments, you can get independence between fingers and fingers.
There are two key points for that.
The first is to take a position where each finger is easy to move. The second is to make small adjustments when performing and to put yourself in the ideal position. I think these two key points give you finger independence from finger to finger.
Now, I will explain the first one, "to take a position where each finger can move easily". The fingers are easiest to move when they are on a straight line on the forearm. That means that each finger has a cozy position. Let's take a look at the position of each finger. First of all, the thumb, this shape is the most comfortable position. Similarly, the index finger. Middle finger. Ring finger. Little finger.
And in the actual performance, the second key point is to put yourself in the ideal position while making fine adjustments.
In this way, we practice with the awareness of fine-tuning to the ideal position. I'm also playing it with the back and forth adjustments to the keyboard there, but I'll talk about that in another video
This is the conclusion of this article. Rather than training and strengthening the fingers because they are weak, I prioritize making the fingers function in the correct position and work with stronger muscles. There is one position for each finger that makes it easy for the fingers to move. In other words, there are only five. And the difference is a small thing, but by tweaking them you can move your fingers comfortably. First of all, it is good to check with a simple sound type.
I would be glad if it was helpful.
See you!
