Hinge the doors in the front and have them just swing open and completely out of the way, no ducking or standing over them. And as a bonus hinging the front will force them closed at speed if for some reason the latch gets left opened.

Or have the hinges orientated in the same direction so that you can slide the doors off when they are open then they'll be out of the way. You can prevent them from sliding back and forth when closed by using seals to centre them. Would keep dirt out.

Lots of work in that deck, looks excellent. My only concern I have with the storage box doors. What is the advantage of having drawbridge doors to swing open style, I’m can see the biggest disadvantage; stepping on door, grinding into the gravel, But each to their own. That is the coolest one on the road. Well done👍👍
@TheOriginalDaveJ

Drawbridge doors you'll be further away from the storage making it harder to get out what you need, possibly injuring oneself.
@kennethstaszak9990

With the length of the doors it means you'd need a lot more room on the sides to fully open the doors. That could limit the areas the truck would be used in. An advantage to drop down doors would be that they could be used as ramps , if they are properly built, to wheel heavy objects into the compartments.

Hi Carl, when you commented on the safety bungee for the ramps it brought back memories. A friend lent me a tandem trailer so I could go grab a tractor, some 1000 miles away. On the way down a ramp holder weld broke so out went the ramp and I was unaware. I checked everything at the fuel stop and noticed that loss. I back tracked but never found it so it may have bounced off the asphalt onto the road verge but I couldn’t find it. On a busier road that could have been disasterous. It’s also good to see the kid is still in you, keep that sense of fun alive. Ooroo to the great fab team.

I hire a car trailer once the ramps were chained to the trailer, somehow they both came out, I didn't notice for a while as it was pelting down rain, 😂 but I was wondering why it was tracking better after hitting a couple of bumps, someone flashes me and pulled me over and told me 😂, great truck, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones

That little Sunny pickup was definitely for the backroads.....for sure. Very cool little truck. Have watched Brent's video of this same day already. Interesting to see the different views of the work being done. Some great work by all involved. You don't know when the ramps fall off, but you do when the cops pull over 1/2 hour later and give you a big ticket and then you get a call from your insurance company because the guy who drove over them wants his car fixed. Trust me, been there done that. Expensive mistake. Picking up a car for a buddy with my trailer and his truck. Guy following us got the trailer plate so I got the ticket and the call about my insurance. Great way to christen the deck being done, flames and all. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.

I know you are on a tear with the ramp truck - if you get back to teaching/shaping - any chance you can thnk about addresing "english wheel" vs "plannishing hammer" vs "slip roller"? I realize right off the bat, the hammer and wheel can work a curve in multiple directions and a slip roller can definitely work thicker material. Any value to using a slip roller first and then moving on to hammer/wheel (so there is no real stretch yet to make the curve initially)? Ever see a slip roller act like a "die" by not only reproducibly making a curve but maybe adding a bead at the same time? Cheers. Sorry for all the questions - just something that came up - fresh in the mind.
