Have you ever tried Mirka Abranet or Autonet? Pretty amazing stuff when it comes to durability. Also doesn't clog up, as the dust has more space to go. Combined with vacuum/dust removing systems it should be among the best things in sanding there is. Though I'm pretty sure its way more expensive than some of the ordinary stuff, but also way more lasting.

The only thing i would change it was the ribet for the carbon metal ribets, cause aluminium and raw metal doesnt work verywell. But the work in the body of the sideskirt was INSANE!! you re amazing dude!
@TofuAutoWorks
Жыл бұрын
The Aluminium riv-nuts will be swapped out for rubber well-nuts down the line. The only reason I used these was because I'm out of the rubber ones and they hadn't arrived yet. These days I tend to avoid metal on metal rivnuts for that exact reason but also because I've heard in some cases the vibrations from driving can wear away and cause the hole to open up and the rivnut will start to spin. They're still good in certain applications though.

Sometimes if I’m trying to block something and I want to retain that line. I’ll tape it just like you but I’d use fiberglass filler because it sands at a slower rate then normal filler so I could block it and it would naturally retain shape a bit better

I love your work here. I’m a big fan of OEM plus so I’m a little concerned at some point it’s going to look amazing and then you’re going to keep modifying it and it will look worse. Like those front wings you’ve made are works of art and you’re going to screw extensions over the top? Is there not a part of you that would like something that looks like Nissan might have actually made, a true GTR wagon or has it been done too many times already?
@TofuAutoWorks
Жыл бұрын
Nail on the head mate. There are already a handful of these GTR conversions out there that have that clean OEM look, and I'll admit they look fantastic when done that way, but that's not the direction I wanted with my own build. The main difference about the widebody that I'm making for mine and what's been done already is that I am making mine a bolt on kit. I'm doing that to make this the most cost effective way of doing this conversion for other people. The other main way this conversion has been done has required custom skins for all 4 doors, as well as the rear quarter panels, meaning every single panel on the car apart from the roof needs to be replaced modified. Making a kit like that would have raised the price exponentially and I want to do everything I can to keep these kits affordable. Don't forget, Nissan are no strangers to fitting fender flares to their cars as well. In my opinion the best looking car of all time, the S30 Fairlady, was available with bolt on fender flares. So were the Skylines from that era. So bolt on flares are really nothing new.

@@TofuAutoWorks thanks for your answer, I’m really looking forward to the end results even if they’re probably not going to my taste, and really interested in the journey! Respect all builds I think Hoonigan says! One more question because I’ve not seen it done anywhere else, why have you chosen subtitles over the usual voiceover?
@TRDGTT

Wheels poke out too much on the rear, u either do massive camber, roll fenders or install fender flares.

You say the skirts are done for now, are you going to beef them up to meet the bottoms of the doors and fenders? The shadow really makes them look a bit old people eyes
@mixalisstathis274
Жыл бұрын
What I do not understand at all - why don't you put the skirts parallel over both your stands so they would be more stable to work on? Do you really have to walk around and change sides time after time? Me myself as an ambidextrous guy may have less trouble to work on something in an orthodox and southpaw stance. But the effort you put in every part of this project just leaves me stunned and speechless. Chapeau! Sorry, I was to early with my recommendation, you did it that way later on. My bad.
