My cats think it's quite fun to sit on my quilts when I'm trying to make my quilt sandwich. Then, they think it's great fun playing with my binding when I'm sewing the pieces together...then, when I'm covered in quilt, they love waiting for it to come out the other side of the machine. That's all fun until I try to turn corners 😂. They are so fun, they shed like a dog, think I'm Mom, and love listening and watching me sew. You should see when I'm chain piecing! They think it's great fun, and they charge at the fabric and run through the pieces 😂. I wouldn't give them up for the world. I foster and socialize, and train animals, all ESA and above. Ive had 3 cats get registered as a service animal, and 3 more not only received their service qualifications, but their therapy license. Incredibly difficult to get a cat registered unless they see them in person. And they've eaten crow every time.❤😂

No worries about your camera work.😊 You're doing great showing us how it works. I know an easier way. Make a 45° point at the beginning, then take the last inch and a half through the point. After attaching to the quilt, flip it as one piece and sew it down like normal. I learned that as a little girl. I love your table runners! The shadowing and light reflection is wonderful, like a canvas! I'm the same with extra thread... always clipping.😊❤

I just found your channel and I have subscribed. I love the Tilda quilt that you made - it is gorgeous!! I learned a little different technique to join my quilts that I will try to share with you. I learned it online but you cut the right-hand side of the strip off in about the middle of your open space for joining. Then you bring the left-hand side up to that cut edge and you fold it back on itself. Then you take the piece that you cut off of the right-hand side and open it up. It will be the width measurement that you cut your strip so you lay it on the left-hand side and that will be your measurement on that strip to cut. I usually cut mine about a 1/4” less because I like it to not have extra in the strip. You need to make sure that when you get ready to cut your left-hand side that you are only cutting the top of the strip and not the piece that it is folded back on. I will also put a big clip on the two sides to pull the quilt together so I have more working space when I am sewing the ends together on the diagonal - it takes off some of the pull of the weight of the quilt too. I have seen people buying tools to be able to do this join in the binding but I find that is definitely not necessary. Once you have it in your mind how to join, it just stay with you. Have fun quilting and I look forward to more of your videos. So glad you are feeling better.

And have you tried dropping your ironing board down so it’s about the same height as your sewing table? Position the ironing board to the side of you so it takes the weight of the quilt as you’re sewing 👍 Makes so much difference as you don’t have to wrestle the quilt so much, supporting the weight makes it easier 🤞🤞🇬🇧

I felt the same as you!! I was so intimidated! I wanted to learn. Practice makes progress & it was at the expense of my own quilts. I use to safely do the roll over binding where I would keep yhe back a bit bigger so that I could roll it over to the front. We all have to start somewhere especially when we are beginners. Now that I know how to bind & I'm comfortable with it, I love it!

That is such an adorable quilt! love the quilting pattern you chose. I like how you join your strips. For my last quilt, I did the math and found that I was a bit short for binding so I ended up cutting the batting an inch shorter than the front and backing and then folding the backing over the batting and ironing that then folding the quilt top over on itself and top stitching all the way around ( I didn't have the patience to run out and buy more fabric ) and I really like how that looks too.
@marnaescountryfarmhouse

I was not ever great at figuring math....I make a little extra as I eyeball the length of the sides & top/bottom. I try not to think of anything as a mistake if something doesn't quite work out the way we want it too....We are creators! I just add a little extra interest!

I have walking foot but haven't ever used it much. My favorite machine that does most all my bindings is my Janome 3060 DC. It is my first real sewing machine bought years ago & sews beautiful.... I understand that all machines are different and thread makes a difference too. I have made do with very little that I had starting out. I agree that thread along with everything else is getting expensive. I am a frugal kind of girl & keep my eye out for a good sale or deal.
