My favorite Finnegan comment has to be when he said it's not about how expensive a car is it's about pulling up at a gas station and having everyone come over and ask yiu about your car. That has honestly been my motivation in becoming more and more dedicated to working on my truck and learning more about cars. Much love for this guy.

Don't know if you remember this Finnegan but you were the one who took the key out of the spare key magnet holder. Castrol chain lube is a good, cheap all purpose lubricant. It has thinners in it that make it super thin when it comes out of the can so it creeps into mechanisms, but once the thinners evaporate, it leaves a thick gooey lubricant that lasts.

MINITRUCKIN TO ROADKILL FINNEGAN. I was born and raised in El Paso Texas and missed you in that episode, I lived in Arizona and missed the rat rod jeep giveaway. I was stationed in Oxnard and went to Scotts Hot Rods a number of times and even saw your 67 Chevy there i believe. I have missed the chance to say hello a lot mainly cause of deploying 6 times within the last 6 years but I thank you for everything you do on your show and Roadkill. You guys helped me get through Afghanistan and any other hard times in my life. I saw the episode that we can win the Ramp Truck Grille by messaging you on here so i figured i would. I'd love to have the grill, I'd rock that in my 79. After watching episode 18 I had to have a 73-80 Stepside with a LS. I drove 12 hours to buy one that was suppose to be straight and solid but only had a straight 6. I overpaid for it and towed it home and started taking it apart. Rockers needed replacing, floors, cab mounts and frame was tweaked on the front from a previous accident. Currently I have the chassis replace, 6.0L LQ4 and 4L80E installed and running but not driving yet due to shift linkage, and metal on the driver side replace. Still a lot of work yet but been a great learning experience doing it all myself! Yee guys have cost me a lot of money lol! Remember if you can't find em grind em!

I've swapped several including into a 72 Chevy C/30, 85 C/30 CC Dually and my 1980 CJ7. Pretty darn familiar with that NV4500. The reason for my comment is they removed the transmission cooler and said it didn't matter because of what they had planned in the future, an NV4500 has overdrive and needs no external cooler, and it has overdrive so the truck can do 80 mph with out having to turn 4,000 rpm as it would with the old TH400, although as memory serves I think this truck has a gear vendors, but still id rather have the NV4500.

The proper lube for exposed joints is (white) Lithium grease. It doesn't wash out as readily or attract dirt as much as thinner lubes, but flows better than greases. This is what OEMs recommend for door/hood/trunk latches and all hinges. Works wonders with those door latches with integrated door open switches. The reason those hoods end up bending is because the rivets in the hood hinge loosen up over time. Couple that with heavy springs and the hinges bind and flex when you try to close the hood, which then bends. Lube works only for a little while. You can tighten up the rivets, buy a new set of hinges (temp fix for a few years) or buy billet hinges. Billet hinges can be expensive, eddiemotorsports makes some.

Finnegan's Garage But airbags give you more control of the weight and a smoother ride no matter how much you got riding on it. Proper lube, some big ole bags, smooth ride no matter how big, room for 4 or 5. . . I'll stop there. This comment is going south very quickly.

I was needing to put the factory bondo loaded hood back on my 76 chevy after an engine swap, had no one to call and somewhere to be, and I wanted to test drive the truck to that appointment. It was threatening to rain so with a mouth full of bolts I lifted that heavy summbitch into place and started the bolts, engine idling. Managed to line it up all in one shot!

You're getting old Finnegan!! Can you imagine what the young Minitruck Finnegan would say to you now after having changed a "Custom" grill back to a stock factory grill on a truck? You better hope we don't invent time travel!

Any thoughts about adding the reinforcements to the hood now.. rather then later like the other hood?

Commenting to enter to win the grill off of the ramp truck. When I was a young boy we would camp down at the Illinois River in Arkansas and I remember we used an old grill like that over the fireplace for cooking 😂. I never really knew that's what it was until I watched this episode. 👍🏻

If I am fortunate enough to get that grill from you I will use it as an actual grill over my fire pit in the back yard. I will cook steaks(high dollar ones at that) on it for you if you ever come to Dallas... I'll also reimburse you for shipping because I bet that ain't cheap.

Mike, there has always been something about old square body's with the stock grill that have always looked they mean business. As far as replacing fenders and body parts. Youngster the sad truth about the square body is they rust. I haven't seen one yet that hasn't had rust in the fenders quarter panels bed Fender inner Wells rocker panels or floorboard and doors. Take your pick there's rust somewhere if it's a square body. I've been following this truck since you guys pick it up on a roadkill Adventure. I drive a 75 C20 custom deluxe camper special.

People may ask why I would want a gaudy grille from a 73 C-30 when I'm restoring a 1985 K-10. The answer is quite simple... as the wise philosophers David Frieburger and Mike Finnegan once said- "BECAUSE ROADKILL!!" The chances of me winning this grille are slim due to the 6,000 comments, but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to own a priceless piece of "stainless" freedom. This grille would make an excellent addition in my shop hanging beside the 85's old hood (which is also creased in the middle). So for the love of square body Chevys..... pick me Mike Finnegan! BECAUSE ROADKILL!!!!
