Joe speaks about two Built by Nature funded projects; The New Model Building & the Commercial Timber Buildings Guidebook. Both of which are aiming to reach a consensus around aspects of fire safety design. As well as providing an update on the Timber in Construction policy roadmap from the government.
Seb talks about the care that needs to be taken when relying on fire certification and the challenges the industry faces in the light of the Building Safety Act and the need to robustly demonstrate Fire Resistance. He will present performance-based calculations as an alternative route offering greater transparency and flexibility.
Joe Giddings: formally trained as an architect, is the UK Networks Lead for Built by Nature. In this role he coordinates an industry network driving the biobased transformation of our built environment. Previous experience in the regenerative construction movement includes his role as Project Director of the Timber Accelerator Hub, at the Association for Sustainable Building Products, and as a founding coordinator of the Architects Climate Action Network.
Seb Laan Lomas: an experienced architect and certified Passivhaus designer, with post-graduate specialisation into sustainable and low-energy architecture. Seb also contributes and participates in various energy and climate campaign initiatives, workstreams, and action groups to drive systemic change at local and national levels such as ACAN
