Another excellent tutorial Chris. Don’t know chat happened about 8 minutes in, but you were talking about the pump drill and the video went back to you throwing a basketball into the ground

Starting to see a shift in golf swing instruction reflecting what pros actually do - no more holding on to lag and letting your arms “naturally” come down with the pivot - I mean how the hell are they supposed to do that! Wish I had lessons like this when I started out golf, great vid and simply explained

The ones sticking to the old methods now conflict with these new methods and is causing a lot of confusion with newer golfers.

Nailed it! I have been pulling my irons. It felt like my hands were ahead of my hips and I was rotating off the ball and standing up. Thank you so much for this video. It is a perfect explanation of what is going on.

This lesson led me to make better contact and straighter shots. I had to feel the dropping of the hands before turning. That’s just the feel for me. Probably because I was so used to turning from the top with shoulders. Another benefit of this lesson is that forces you to have patience at the top of the backswing leading to a better synchronization. Thank you Chris.

Watched this before going to the range this morning and helped so much. You explained this very clear. Helped me to keep the club even or behind my hands at half down swing. I didnt realise I was getting the head of the club in front of my hands until I looked at this at the range. I actually thought I had that sorted in my swing. I added in three pumps on the down swing to make sure I as aligned before hitting the ball. And helped me to understand the role of the arms/hands and turn in the swing.

Brilliant stuff, thanks Chris.! I was once told to "rake down the imaginary wall" behind me, but that just didn't work as it was too much to connect with the body turn - but this looks very doable. I also now get why I've been pulling a lot of shots left by turning my shoulders too early. Thanks!

Extremely effective illustration of how arms should pretty much be responsible for moving club up and down and the body for moving it back and forward. I'm keen on getting it right with a basketball before trying with a golf club. Great video.

This drill was amazing! I went to the range and honestly my ball striking improved! I had a few bad weeks and lost my swing but this brought it back and made me understand rotation is key rather then throwing arms at it!

Excellent vid! Tx Chris. I use a lot of the drills you demonstrate and have improved my feel for throwing the xlubhead which has improved my ball striking, consistency and distance control - even out of the sand. I have much tighter dispersion patterns, too. But then again, I tend to practice regularly and always use drills and practice aids to improve. My golf buds call that "cheating" - 🤔

Nice one Chris, thanks. Notice a slight difference between when you say straight down or just down vs what you really do and what your graphics show. @1:18 & @4:35 the direction of the lines are not vertical but slightly diagonal. When you move your arms with zero body turn, the ball and clubhead move out from your heels to infront of your toes. The key thing I notice is your right elbow moves from your side shirt seam to more infront of of core in a slight diagonal fashion.

Don't want to jinx it, but had far and away the best ball striking nine holes of my life after watching this. Hit five of my last six GIR and was 15 feet away putting from the fringe on the sixth as a low 20s handicap and never felt so good standing over the ball using this as my swing thought

super drill and I’m sure it will help golfers like me who are fighting the over the top move, however, as you probably know the end of video is out of sequence….but apparently this problem is not universal and maybe it’s just local hopefully as it an excellent drill

No I don’t think you need a shallowing move, this will lower the club which should be all that you need

Chris, is there a spot on the ground you like to aim your hands at when you start the down swing?? I tried this the other at at the range with driver-- as just an initial spot when I start the down swing, I aimed my hands (or butt of club handle) at a spot a few inches in front and right of my trial toes. It was just a spot to get started, of course the rotation kicked in and that spot was out of mind almost immediately. But it was a great way to start the swing. Do you have a spot like that in mind?

Is the sequence then hip bump, then hands down then body turn or are they all happening at the same time
@DoctorTed
3 ай бұрын
All of this can be solved by standing 5" farther from the ball. The standard setup makes you COMPENSATE for standing too close. With your lead hand in full ulnar deviation, bend until the heel of your club is at the ball. Now you have room to let your trail elbow clear the hip without all the contortions. It's simpler, will save your back, and improve your swing. It's called the Single Plane Swing.

Thank you! I love your videos. Are you shifting forward when you throw your hands down? I watched your video with the impact bag as well, and it doesn’t seem like you have to shift doing it that way? I’ve always struggled with the shift and if this method can help avoid an exaggerated shift, that would be great.

Hi Chris this may be just what ive been looking for ,I used to just let the arms drop but now Im chunking at the ball from the top hence coming over the top ,the key part of drill is missing at 8mins o6 would it be possible when demonstrating drills which happen so quickley to show in slow motion
@jayboek2854

U just have to drop your arms yet u have to use body turn with it simultaneously. The golf swing is technically down and around. Most of us I believe are taught from a young age like a sport like baseball you swing from the top. That what makes golf challenging.
