The way Kenny was felling and limbing the trees in yesterday's video, he could give the young bucks a run for their money if he went flat-out. Was fun watching a seasoned veteran of the woods take care of those trees. I can see Kenny getting a processor to keep doing firewood well into his 70s.

It sure is nice to see a totally different way of processing firewood. Large pieces that Ken makes, he really has moved out a lot of wood. Chris do you know what he charges for a 1/3 cord lot. I am curious because here in Northern Minnesota, I have been asking between 60-70.00 /face cord and get very little response. Nice to see Kenny, he always has some barely safe one liners. Thanks for showing his wood operation.
@InTheWoodyard

@InTheWoodyard
9 ай бұрын
That is a good/tough question. Very few trees would be ready to harvest in 20 years, 40 maybe. Plant what you like and want. Soft woods (pines) are planted for harvest in 40ish years for the paper industry but hardwood trees take 100-150 years to mature so it is a totally different thing.Also most hardwoods are self regenerated.

Let's talk about "Face cords " and how they confuse the buyers. Face cord is a newer term that is confusing folks into thinking they're buy a true cord of wood and get taken advantage of by these crooks trying to sell wood on the side.
@InTheWoodyard
9 ай бұрын
Nope. I a lot of the USA and parts of Canada a face cord is by far the most used term for 1/3 of a cord...it's the same thing (one row of 16"pieces stacked 4'high x 8' long) ... the Eastern USA has a problem with it. In other parts rik, row, rank and bush cord are used also. You can call it what you want, kinda like the terms fountain soda, pop, soda pop, coke and soft drink, all the same thing depending on your areas terminology.
@waynetharp
9 ай бұрын
The difference in price between a face and full cord should be plenty enough different for anyone unfamiliar with the term to ask questions. If you truly believe someone is bringing you a full cord of wood for $75-$125.00 (depending on price in your area). Then you were hoping to get the buy of a lifetime!
