It's amazing how beautiful wood is if we just look. I've had firewood and I have kept some pieces that were so nice I kept them as pieces of art. I believe you have to really Love wood to enjoy it for what ever it gives you.

Glad I got all my wood split before I saw this video. Or I'd freeze this year.

Been getting a lot of camphor wood from the tree service. It can be a very pretty wood. Definitely aromatic!

Really pretty! Can't tell you how much I've split/burned chunks like this begrudgingly, because of my limited wood working skills? I mean several different species. Blair, I may have a topic you may want to shine light on... The day before Thanksgiving my friend's dad injured himself working on a chair using a chainsaw 'disk', trying to grind down excess wood. He ended up cutting himself badly on his thigh. It was actually a 'kick back', where he lost control of the grinder handle. If you are aware of this tool, please don't use it. Perhaps you could tell why/how this tool is ridiculous to use? (In my opinion) Thanks buddy, best of holiday's for you and your family!

Almost all of the wood in my garage that I use for projects is either reclaimed furniture or scraps from something that someone was throwing away. I still have a stack of oak and pine firewood that I have to figure out what i want to make from. :) Things like this can be found in scraps tho, cool boxes: kzitem.info/news/bejne/rayu33d3a2uhf6w or even minions from scrap piece of 4x4's: kzitem.info/news/bejne/qaGXmJ5osap9fG0 So you never know what you may find in a piece of wood until you 'scrape/shape' some off or look inside :)

Blair, take the roughest piece of wood, something the average Joe outdoor think of as nothing but firewood, hand it to a master wood turner and they will prove that chunk of firewood is something beautiful!

I occasionally watch youtuber " Out of the Woods ' . He cuts all varieties of trees into slabs on his 'huge' band cutter . Almost always wets the slabs to bring up the grain colors and some are absolutely beautiful .

Thing is... I would never even consider any Camphor to be firewood. It's one of my favourite timbers to work with when I can get it. The grain pulls like a bitch...but it's worth it.
