Nice job as always! I watch every video. It would be interesting to know how much time you save using the processor compared to only using the splitter and chainsaw. Maybe an idea for two epiodes? Two equal piles of logs. How much faster is the processor really, when EVERY working step is taken into account…

Great to see the processor at work. Couple of questions. You had made a point a while back that you wouldn’t run small logs on the processor. But it looked like you were doing some small stuff today. Has your mind changed on this or did you not have time/room to do all the sorting out. Also, have you considered doing a line run product ( no resplits)off the processor to be sold as boiler wood? It would be used for ash or wood other than high value oak and hickory. You may not have demand for that in your area but it’s a thought.

Based on what I saw here, I'd say roughly 40% resplits. It would be nice to not have to resplit, but the hard work is done, now you can fine tune your firewood for your customers. The Easton box wedge on some of their other gear makes a total mess from what the videos I've seen. Box wedge needs clean, straight grained wood like oak, not a bunch of twisted crap. You take what you can get these days, but yeah it would be nice to have better wood.

@jeanvaljohn3921

All logs are not created equal, dimensionally. One Wedge does not work on all logs. The goal is to end up with a very specific sized product to please customers. They require very specific sized firewood . Not too big not too small. In order to do that re-splitting is required. The perfect cutting wedge would have 16 2 5/8 squares or triangles and all splits would be uniform. But The down side of that would be the giant hill of debris at the end of the day. If they were processing 45 cords a day for resale the piles of shards might not be of much consequence. Camp fire wood and ambiance fire wood for the fire place in the living room or family room are his bread and butter.

There was a good number of small diameter logs he ran through the processor. I suspect he was testing to see if the 4 way wedge would be any better than the 8 or 12 way wedges he's used previously.

Hello Chris, Don’t know if its possible on your processor, but I shut off the hydraulics on the Bobcat when the saw in in the down position, Makes sharpen a lot easier for me, The Dremel is the only way I sharpen everything after watching you. Safe Splitting to ya 👍🏼🪵🇺🇸
