I know this video is a couple months past due but hey, I've been busy what can I say. Also, I know I say "super" a ton in the video, oh well. When I was looking to upgrade my production to this level I was trying to decide on the what company I should go with. I did a lot of research and settled on Japa. I was originally looking at the 405 model with the "Perfect Split" option but quickly realized that it was out of my budget.
I found this machine through another youtuber called "Ohio Wood Burner" / @ohiowoodburner . He was the one who turned me onto this machine and really made me think that this machine could be a viable option for my business. I bought this machine from Bob at Metsa Machines / metsamachines . They have been great to me with answering my questions when I was in the research phase and really broke everything down for me and what was a good option.
I opted for this machine verses others is because I took a step back and looked at the firewood that I get. I do not get PERFECT diameter log truck loads of firewood like you see everybody else on KZitem get that has a processor. I get nasty knotted, super wide and short pieces of wood. I knew I could save a lot of money if I could somehow split the bigger logs down into a more manageable size so, I bought a wood screw along side with it. The processor and log table shipped to my door was $27,000 and the wood screw shipped to my door was $6,000. So all together the price came to $33,000. Granted you need to have an excavator to use the wood screw but you can find them cheap for around $10,000 if you looked hard enough. So if we combine all that together it is $33,000 and with an excavator you would be more around $43,000. You CANNOT find a processor for $43,000 that can process a 4' wide 12' long log PERIOD.
This machine has been great for me I have got about 120 hours on the machine now and have split about 70 cord with it. It was quite a learning curve getting used to the machine because I have never used one before buying it. it took about 5-7 hours before I really got comfortable on the machine. After that I'm really efficient using it and with 2 men working it (me on the machine and my dad keeping the table loaded and splitting the off cut pieces) we can cut AND SPLIT one cord an hour without breaking a sweat. The specs for the 365 Pro say it can table a 14" diameter log but I can fit a 16" wide piece if I tried. With the table I can process a 12' long log.
All in all I really love this machine and cannot wait to make another video running it.
I am not sponsored in anyway by Japa or Metsa Machines. I wanted to make this video so that I can just show how great of a machine they truly are.
