In this video we share more from our 2024 timber harvest. The trees that we timber are responsibly harvested directly on our farm. We follow a Woodlands Management Plan that helps improve and sustain the health of our forest through selective timbering. Trees are chosen when showing signs of stress and decay such as no leaves, missing bark, or abnormal growths. This can also include missing branches. Harvesting these trees for firewood or other purposes will improve the health of the forest by allowing more light to the younger, healthier trees. We do leave some snag (aka standing dead) trees for wildlife. Many birds and animals use these trees for shelter and having 2-3 snags per acre is a good goal.
After the trees were timbered, they were bucked to size in accordance to one of customer's stove dimensions. It was then split, loaded, and delivered. We offer firewood locally in southern New Jersey in 3 increments: 0.75 cu. ft. 1/3 cord, and full cord.
