What can you do when you crave to eat a dish you only get in a country that’s really freaking far away and no restaurant around where you live cooks anything close to it!!
I had no choice but to try making it myself so I started searching KZitem videos till I found this one by @Mumbai Chef Sama Momin and her video name is: Keema pav Mumbai Restaurant style/
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients
900g Ground Beef
3 tbsp oil
Whole Spices:
2 tbsp cumin seeds
1 star anise
2 bay leaves
3 green cardamoms
1 big cardamom
8-9 cloves
1 tsp black pepper crushed
3 inches of cinnamon stick
1.5 medium onions chopped
12 - 16 green chillies grated (use 6-8 if you do not like it spicy)
1 onion cut lengthwise
1.5 pods of cleaned garlic grated
4 inches of ginger grated
1 bunch cilantro
1 cup yogurt
1 tbsp cumin powder
1 tbsp Corriander powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp black pepper powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
1 cup frozen peas
Process:
In a pot put oil on medium gas mark. Add all the whole Spices. After a minute, add chopped onions and grated ginger, garlic and green chillies. Fry well till onions turn light brown and add little salt, stir well and leave. Then add the ground beef and mix well. Then to the beef add, the lengthwise sliced onions and stir well. In a food processor, add one bunch of cilantro along with 1 cup of yogurt and grind. Add this ground mixture to the ground beef and stir well. Now add the cumin, Corriander, turmeric and black pepper powder. Also add the 1 cup of frozen peas, 1 tbsp ghee or clarified butter and mix well. Cover and cook for 5 -7 mins or till the liquid is almost no more on low to medium gas mark. Just 3-5 mins before you turn off the gas. Add 1 tsp garam masala powder and mix well. Enjoy with Roti or
Dinner rolls.
