I love the reaction. The relationship between BTS and ARMY really goes both ways. I have been in a few fandoms in my life, but this is really on another level. It's always interesting to see the clash with how the media usually perceive ARMY and how BTS perceive us. Sometimes, you have interviewers asking BTS about their fans in the same manner they would ask western artists. Like what was the craziest fan experience or something like that, fully expecting to hear a story about some crazy fangirl. Instead BTS talk about our projects and about how much they love us and admire us. I have literally never heard an artist talk about their fans with this amount of respect. Then, when they talk to us directly, they joke with us, post selfies to comfort us when they don't win an award and lately have been jokingly using us as a bargaining chip 😂. They know we're here for them when they need us and they in turn are ready to be here for us when we need them. For a video on individual members, I have seen someone mention Who Is BTS, but that is an outdated video, so I would highly suggest you react to an updated and more well-rounded video called "An introduction to the 7 members of BTS (2021 update)" by Ida S. It's honestly a much better video overall than the old version and doesn't go into stereotypes about the members' personalities, which the old video was unfortunately guilty of.

@@AndrewBergSax the crazy fan question happened a few times, you can see how their faces turned from polite smiles to just pissed, one way to see if the interview is enjoyable is to see how many members are participating, if only 2-3 are talking, they didn't want to be there :) Edit: I wanna add that these mostly apply to English in person interviews pre covid, nowadays they just take the question as a topic to have fun amongst themselves/answer sarcastically in bad/repetitive interviews, they're more comfortable showing their annoyance now (maybe cuz it's online as well?)

Very humble beginnings. During their training days where they lack funds and resources Jin would randomly treat all the members to lunch or dinners using his credit card his mom gave him while he was away for training. He even prepared JK's school meals when he was still in HS and would drive him to school. Today, BTS is one of South Korea's pride. Recently, BTS was appointed as "special presidential envoy for future generations and culture" by South Korean President Moon Jae-in. Each one of them are now legit diplomats and are holding a diplomatic passport. They gave a speech (their 2nd time) at the United Nations General Assembly last Sept 2021. They even performed the Permission To Dance at the UNGA. They are now living in a huge house where all members equally owned sand share. It's located at the high end area of SK called Hannan Hill (it's like the Beverly Hills in the US) They are all silent millionaires, still so humble and down to earth. They still do their own tasks like Jin and Suga would could for all of the members and the rest of the boys would do their share in the household chores. In their show BON Voyage BTS you can see a glimpse of their real self while travelling. You can see their bond and how genuine they are to each other. They also have another show RUN BTS which is their variety shoe and this is a fun and chaotic BTS show and very entertaining. Their recent show In The Soop S2 you can see how they bond and what they normally do when not working.

Caring for their fans... Suga once made presents to give fans for his birthday. Mind you, they had just debuted and he only expected about 250 fans to show up... but 350 came. He made sure that the extra 100 had gifts sent to them. (In one of the early BTS Bombs you can see him wrapping up little gifts with hand written notes. ) Suga also once sent meat to a bunch of orphanages. Not just any meat, but top grade beef, because of a promise he made to fans. They all worry for the fans. One time, for a fan meet (including a mini concert), they had lunch catered to the audience. And once, when it was super cold and fans were waiting outside for the venue to open the doors, they make sure the staff passed out hand warmers for the first 100 or so in line. Actually, I should tell you that nowadays they each give to diff charities on their birthdays. It's become a tradition. If you look it up on google, I'm sure you'll find many listed. Their existence was also hampered by subversive attempts by the rival music companies. Often times instigating contention with fans of other groups against BTS. Releasing false reports, breaking into BigHit offices....The one thing I love about ARMY, we keep receipts. All this is very well documented. Prior to BTS, although there are many music/training companies in S.Korea, there were 3 main ones, and only entertainers from those 3 won awards. Ever I believe. The CEO of BigHit even came from one of them. He broke away and created his own company. He had a different vision/view. He was right. Much Much dirty laundry with those Big three. Primarily SM entertainment. Dirty pool.

Towards the end when you mentioned 3 members becoming permanent members, thats in regards to the 'Korean Music Copyright Association' KOMCA is a Non-Profit Organization in South Korea that credits song writers, composers, and music publishers. all 7 members are apart of the organization since they have all written/composed music, but 3 members (RM, J-hope, and Suga) have now been promoted to permanent members because they have reached the number of credits to do so. Hope this helped, also congratulations on your marriage! 🤍

i feel like the reason bts are one of the rare artists of their size and popularity who talk about serious issues in their music and why they always have so much substance in their songs is that they rose to popularity by themselves, by word of mouth of their fans, not by a label pushing them down people's ears and throats like 99.9% of the industry today. so, they were able to stay true to themselves and keep creating the music they want to without being stifled by some major corporation pushing whatever they find most profitable. and - all these companies are forced to treat them well today because they know how big of a fanbase bts has behind them and how much damage and scandal it would cause to do them wrong. bts are like the biggest grassroots movement style supported artist of all time, basically. they even once jokingly said we're like their agent, and considering a lot of the promo in the west companies love shoving on them is always about this "crazy bts army" (we are not actually insane like people tell you, i promise you), that's another way they started getting invited to more shows and award shows in the, very xenophobic and slightly to very racist, west. we are just very organized and like a gigantic family, and we love giving back to bts every single positive thing they give to us, in whatever way we can. so i hope you don't get discouraged by any possible trolls or bad apples you stumble into, and genuinely give bts a chance. they're worth it. thank you :)

This makes so much sense and they probably are one of the biggest grassroots movements of any kind 💜 also I unfortunately have to agree that at least the US has a lot of very xenophobic and racist people... it's very unfortunate that so many people can't open themselves up to a group as great as BTS

There's been lots of excellent recommendations from my fellow ARMYs so I'll just add that I'm glad you're here and welcome! Here's some quick vocab/random info you'll want to know: Members real names (most ARMY tend to refer to them by their real names or nicknames rather than stage names): RM - Kim Namjoon or Joon/Joonie Jin - Kim Seokjin or Jinnie Suga aka Agust D (his solo rapper persona) - Min Yoongi or Yoongi J-Hope - Jung Hoseok or Hoseokie or Hobi Jimin - Park Jimin or Jiminie or Mini V - Kim Taehyung or Tae or TaeTae Jungkook - Jeon Jungkook or Kookie or JK Borahae/보라해/I Purple You - this became a saying in the fandom after one of the members (Tae) gave a sweet speech inventing a new meaning for the color purple to ARMY at one of their fan meetings (more on that later) where the audience surprised the boys with a purple lights ocean during the song 2!3! (Song dedicated to & written for ARMYs). Ever since he gave this new meaning to purple the boys & ARMY have coined the phrase "I purple you" or Borahae (Bora = purple in Korean & hae comes from Saranghae which means I Love You) Muster - this is what fan meetings are called (comes from the military army term to muster the troops). BTS hold massive fan meetings once a year(sometimes twice though the 2nd is usually in Japan instead of Korea) usually around Festa time Festa - a 13 day celebration held every beginning of June celebrating BTS debut or "birthday". They release fun new content every day leading up to the final celebration concert on their actual bday. We just finished celebrating their 8th birthday a couple weeks ago Bias - a member you have a bias towards (the member you like best) Bias wrecker - one or more of the other members that temporarily claim your bias spot thus "wrecking" the bias list Hyung - Korean word for "older brother" used by males of actual blood relation or among really close male friends. This word isn't often translated but left as is so thought I'd include its meaning Maknae - youngest person in a group of people is called this in Korean. Again, another word that's not often translated but left as is That's just some of what I could think of offhand. Sorry for the long essay 😅 I'll leave you with a couple of my favorite performances since that's some of my favorite content of theirs: kzitem.info/news/bejne/uKNjz2qCqnSXa3o - Magic Shop kzitem.info/news/bejne/lKGI0mudpIqVi4I - Butter kzitem.info/news/bejne/k6iZsaSPZmaCdX4 - HOME (turn on CC) kzitem.info/news/bejne/pnx-y5mIgnZyppw - Anpanman

I've said this before...what a lot of naysayers don't realise is that BTS is in essence a punk band. People look at their pop facade, their kpop/boyband origins and dismiss them as fluff and generic. It is only when you look past their facade you will realised how multi layered and full of depth their music truly are. Their whole discography is their coming of age and as they grow their music grow with them. They are undoubtedly the most fascinating musical act I've ever see and even more captivating performers. Falling into the BTS rabbit hole is one of the most fun, exciting, enriching experiences I've had. I'm part of this movement...in the next 10/20 years...I can't wait to say I was there for it I witness living legends.

One of the things that I love about them is that majority of their music touches on topics you rarely see in music. E.g. - the anxiety and nostalgia that comes from moving (house, stages of life, etc) - the feeling of everyone in your life moving on, achieving great things, while you still feel stuck in place - losing the love of a passion At times they are able to vocalise the emotions I've struggled to understand. it's a moment of 'oh, so that's what it is.'

First of all congratulations on your wedding Andrew! It'll be a little long because i'll comment on a few things. First, yes they gift music to Armys on SoundCloud but it's not just that. There's songs that BTS made for Armys, lyrics are about their feelings for us. Their first official fan song is 2! 3!, and then they made Magic Shop and We are Bulletproof: the Eternal. If you listen those songs with lyrics on i'm sure you'll get touched, especially when they sing them on the concerts with Armys. It's not that long, you should necessarily check-out BTS's UNICEF talk, all people should though. And you guessed right it's a piano cover of BTS's song and the song is "Zero o'clock". I suggest you to listen the song with the lyrics on, as well as all BTS songs. Finally, it's not just you saw on that video, it's much more than that. With BTS it's never just a thing, they're so extra. For example they're so much fun, if you wanna learn about them i suggest you to watch BTS funny moments videos. Those 7 are so much fun when they're together. Thanks for reacting to BTS and decide to know them better, have a good day and i wish you a happy marriage (i don't know if there's such a discourse like this in Englis haha).

Congrats for your marriage ! Hope you had an amazing honey moon :D So, happy you started to see more about the group itself, now about what you asked at the end, it's an amazing idea to react to a guide on the members, one that would be great is "An introduction to the 7 members of BTS (2021 updated)" by Ida S, that will show you another reason why BTS are so popular, and it's just their talent, end how each member bring something different to the group :) And it will help you differentiate them, I think :) Also a quick note, some people may recommend "Who is BTS ? the 7 members of Bangtan" by Suga&Spice as a guide but it's an old video (3 years old) and the guys have changed/improved/grown since this one, so it lacks a lot of informations, the one by Ida S is very recent and focus more on their professional/musical side. Here the link : kzitem.info/news/bejne/zH2I0qWvrp2qZag You also asked about how they started and how they are together, there is an amazing documentary (series) fanmade but it's at professional level "The Rise of Bangtan". She did an incredible job, there is 12 episodes right now (not finished) and it shows really well all the BTS history (right now with the 12 episodes, it covers from 2013 to 2016) and it's also a great documenatry for someone who is not familiar with k-pop, as they explain the k-pop industry in the same time. Here the link to the channel : kzitem.info/rock/-SW84yQryPIFDwBX--YMxw If you want a quick overview of their career from the start, you have this one "The most beautiful life goes on : a story of BTS" by the Asian Theory. Here the link : kzitem.info/news/bejne/mWh3voSihnh9aaw I think these ones are a good start if you wanted more introduction/guides about them ^^ Anyway thank's for your reaction, and congrats again for your marriage, have a wonderful day ! :D

Whilst you are right that ARMY has been supportive of them and a huge factor to their success, and BTS themselves would attribute their success to ARMY, as an ARMY I want to make it clear that their success is mainly down to their talent, artistry and the kibd of music they put out. People should start asking why their fan base is so big and diverse and I hope this video gives people some insight into that. I am a 45 year old Malaysian who have been an ARMY since 2014. BTS is a phenomenon. I enjoyed your reaction, thank you 💜🙏 Congratulations in your marriage, may you and your wife have a long and happy life together. I just want to give a little background - “idol” groups are a big business in South Korea and other Asian countries and have grown in world wide popularity. Youngsters audition and are signed, usually at quite a young age, to entertainment companies, who train them usually for 2 or 3 years, before “debuting” them usually in a group, but sometimes as solo artists. The company that BTS all signed with (they signed up individually and the company formed them in to a group) was not successful or well known, prior to the success of BTS - this is a major reason for some of their struggles, they were the underdogs, and did not have much influence in the entertainment industry. The fist member of the group to be signed was RM (Namjoon) oh, most of them have more than one name, some Army will use stage names, most of us use their given names or nicknames. He was born in September 1994, and signed with BigHit in 2010 as a rapper, and songwriter/producer, he also is the leader and spokesperson of the group, he speaks English (most of them speak Japanese as well as Korean, and the other six are all learning English, but Joon is the only one who is currently fluent in English). Then came Yoongi/Suga (he has also released two solo mixtapes under the name of Agust D, and he is an excellent pianist and is learning guitar), another rapper and songwriter/producer. He was born in March 1993 - he thought he was signing up to be a music producer, he was persuaded to join the group and assured he would not have to dance 😂🤷♂️. Then came Hobi/JHope (real full name Hoseok) - he was born in February 1994, and was a dancer by training. He also became a rapper, and is a prolific songwriter and producer too - these three rappers have been the main songwriters and music producers in the group, but all seven have written lyrics, melodies, and been involved in producing. Again, these three rappers all signed in 2010 - Hobi says his join date was Christmas Eve 2010. Then in 2011, Jin was persuaded to sign (he was at university, studying acting and had no experience in singing or dance) - he was born in December 1992, and is the eldest and a vocalist (he plays piano and guitar). Next came Jungkook, he joined in April of 2011, and he was born in September of 1997 (he is the youngest member, and was just 13 when he signed), he is the main vocalist, and an excellent dancer too (he is sometimes called JK, or the maknae - which means the youngest member in a group). Then came Taehyung/V, he also joined in 2011, and he is the second youngest, born on 30th December 1995 - Tae is also a vocalist and a very good dancer. Last to join was Jimin, third youngest, born in October 1995 - he trained as a dancer, but had no vocal training prior to joining Big Hit in 2012 - he had the shortest training time, less than a year between joining and debut - he is one of the two main dancers (he did both hip hop and contemporary dance) and a vocalist - he also has a background in martial arts, with 8 years of Kendo, and a black belt in Taekwondo. So they were all really young when they left their family homes and moved into that little apartment in the biggest city in Korea (none of them were from Seoul). The youngest was 13 and the eldest was 18. The three youngest only graduated high school after debut (the youngest actually entered and graduated high school with the members of BTS attending both ceremonies). Six of the seven now have bachelor’s degrees and are busy with their masters degrees (the youngest is still doing his bachelors - they have to study part time because of their work commitments, and he is still only 23 right now). At debut, in June 2013, the youngest was 15 and the eldest was 20. Right now, the eldest is 28 and the youngest is 23. They have been working for a decade or more already, and it is eight years since their debut - we just celebrated Festa with them (two weeks in June leading up to the anniversary, where they put out a lot of content on their apps for us) and we had Muster - which this year was a two day online live streaming live concert event, where they performed at the Olympic stadium is Seoul (with no physical audience but over 1.3 million online attendees). It has been a complex journey for them and us. Butter was just a fun summer song, an excellent fun song, but not representative of their artistry, especially lyrically - their best work is obviously in their native Korean. A great website for lyric translations (subs are often hit and miss) is doolsetbangtan.wordpress.comm - I’m think if you decide to get your wife involved with the analysis of lyrics. These men have earned their success with their blood, sweat, and tears - they worked crazy hours as young teens, going to school from a tiny dorm, seven of them crammed into one bedroom, then practicing, and training, and writing and producing music for most of the night. They have been treated badly frequently, and have been humiliated and disrespected - and their concern when that happened was not for themselves, but for us - they were really sad that we might be embarrassed as their fans, they were upset that we might have to feel sorry for them and sorry that we supported them. It might seem weird, especially because you don’t know them yet, but there is a very real and honest love between BTS and Army. Most of us understand that not everyone will love BTS, and that is fine - we aren’t crazy, we have just been with them for years so we know an awful lot about them. There are some toxic “fans” who give BTS and Army a bad name though, and I hope none pop up on your channel. Thank you one again, and welcome to the rabbit warren. When you want suggestions, let us know 💜💜🙏 Have we explained the Purple Hearts yet? And the lights at concerts - those are light sticks, most kpop groups have their own ones, and our are called Army bombs - they can be controlled by BTS management via Bluetooth at concerts - that is why you see them changing colour, and they can even spell out things - your saw BTS💜ARMY spelled out in coloured lights, that is done by BTS (not the members, their concert staff) - it often syncs to the music too, the lights will change and pulse in the audience.

It's amazing the struggles they have overcome and their relationship with ARMY is unparalleled. Thank you again, and I really hope you continue commenting on my videos so I can learn a little bit more each time 😀💜💜💜

@@AndrewBergSax you are very welcome. I look forward to more videos from you, most army enjoy reactions to BTS content - your problem will be getting bombarded by requests for reactions to specific videos 😂🤷♂️ Of course I will keep watching, it will be a fun journey. Many army tend to have what is called a “bias” within the group - and that is really just a special term used to describe having a favourite member, and they will especially enjoy seeing YTubers react to edits of their biases some will say they are “OT7” which basically means One True7 - which means they love all seven equally and don’t have a bias. I’m just explaining terms you might not be familiar with. Also the Purple Heart, you will see it a lot. And the word “borahae”. Saranghae is the j formal way of saying “I love you” in Korean, and “bora” means the colour “purple”. Kpop stars make a lot of heart signs with their hands, sending love to fans, and when they cross their thumb over their index finger, it forms the bottom point of a heart, and is used to send love. Taehyung, the second youngest, coined the phrase “I purple you”, he said that as purple is the last colour in a rainbow, it means “I will love and trust your forever”, so our colour is purple, people drop Purple Hearts all over comments to show they are army, and they also say borahae (a mix of “I love you” and “purple”), so if you this going on, it’s good stuff, don’t be concerned. If you have any questions, just ask in your videos or reply to comments, and you will have lots of people very willing to help - me included of course. I am a registered nurse and midwife, I am from northern ireland (so I am a Brit) but I live, work, study (supposed to be doing my masters 🙈, struggling because of Covid, work is crazy) in South Africa 🇿🇦

Yes, I've seen a lot of these terms! I'm starting to pick up a few of them and a few people have definitely helped (like you) in understanding them! I really appreciate it! Borahae! 💜

@@AndrewBergSax And no distraction with choreo or visuals of a music video. Also they use a live band so its pretty awesome. They have captions on it so you can also find out what they're saying. They picked 3 songs that really show off their versatility.

The piano music is “Spring Day” I don’t want to explain the meaning and why they wrote and sing this song. Have some tissues ready. When I saw them in concert, “Wings Concert” I cried like the biggest baby! It was absolutely beautiful. I loved your reaction. And yes, you have to watch more video’s about how they started and where they are today. I will wait for your next reaction. Congratulations on your wedding. And becoming an Army! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

It must be overwhelming for u to receive so many reaction requests. Just take your time cuz BTS got so many content!! It's your channel so react to stuff u wanna react to even they are non-BTS related stuff. Don't be pressurized to do anything u don't wanna do. I feel sorry for reactors who get tired and fake reactions to please the viewers. Honesty is key. As long as u being respectful, even criticism towards BTS music is welcomed. After all, music is down to personal taste. As an Army, I would like everybody to react to BTS stuff and become an ARMY. But just as the saying says "BTS found you when u needed them the most". It took me almost 2 years to call myself an ARMY. I was once an ignorant person who despised ppl idolizing a celebrity. My self-esteem didn't allow me to have such fondness/respect for ppl esp. whom I didn't even know personally. When I realized BTS has brought joy to my life belatedly, I regret not knowing and rooting for them earlier when they had such a hard time dealing with so many hate and rejection around 2015-17(BTS spoke about it recently). What I wanna say is I hope ppl are truly happy on the BTS journey. None of the explanation from others matters, just experience it yourself. BTS is supposed to bring joy to ppl. I am sure true ARMYs will wish it stays that way forever. Rmb ARMYs support and more than willing to provide guidance to ppl who have genuine interest in and respect for BTS. Lastly, be healthy and we purple you!!

Thank you so much! I will admit it is (very) overwhelming, but honestly I'm super excited for this. And it's overwhelming in a good way. I don't think I've ever loved a group as much as ARMY loves BTS and that is amazing to me and makes me want to learn more about them and enjoy them just as much as all of you do. That plus everything I said in this video about how they're amazing humans. Hahaha

There’s no other artists who appreciate, love and support their fans such as BTS does. Their music comes from their sincerity, thoughts and emotions that’s why it resonates with their ARMYs hence we love, support and protect BTS unconditionally and tirelessly. BTS remained humble, respectful and appreciative despite being the biggest in the world right now that’s why great things always come their way and they deserve every part of it. BTS are the greatest performers alive! BTS is the best! There’s nothing like BTS! BTSxARMYs forever.

You should start off with their debut songs back in 2013 when they were originally started as a hip hop group... "No more Dream" and "Bullet Proof 2" also there's a fan made vid of their rise up, look into the many series makes of "The Rise of Bangtan Boys"

Thank you for this reaction! I just wanted to let you know about a video series (a few people in the comments have mentioned it as well) that a very dedicated team of Armys put together called “The Rise of Bangtan” on a KZitem channel called TheRiseofBangtanOfficial. It is a highly informational docuseries about BTS’ journey since before they debuted! It’s very professionally done and will give you a great idea of exactly what BTS had to go through to get to where they are today. It’s an ongoing series, and it has twelve episodes out so far, so you could get caught up with it fairly easily and keep up with the uploads as they drop. It appears that a new part comes out every few weeks! I hope you consider checking it out because I believe it will make you see the boys in a new light 💜 Not only will you understand why BTS ascended to fame, but you’ll also get a better understanding of how the K-pop industry as a whole works and see how BTS’ way of conduct is actually revolutionary. Here’s a link to the first part: kzitem.info/news/bejne/sq530593sHt2mI4

A 41 years old Argentinian Literature teacher and ARMY here. I've seen your last video and was interested in how your series started. Congratulations for getting married, I'd love to listen to a writer's oppinion! I've seen that you haven't reacted to Black Swan yet, or Dyonisus, or The Truth Untold... maybe she'll like their lyrics (maybe you can look for performances with Eng subs... In special Dyonisus in MMA 2019 with its introduction: one of the most amazing performances in an award show that I've seen in my life). If you watch the performances without lyrics, you can fine them in the blog Doolset, that has lots of interpretations and context information with links (to videos, articles, other songs, etc.). Some of the analysis they bring are beyond imagination for a fan made blog, like Baepase or Paldogangsan, and their translations of the three songs I've mentioned are very good.

The fan base is amazing. I saw a separate reaction earlier today from a Live show at Wimbledon, UK, where the Army surprised BTS by singing their song Young Forever to BTS. Grab tissues before watching that one though. Also, there are a number of BTS intro videos - Ida S has several to introduce the members, some on each member, etc. I'm new to your channel, but only about 4 weeks in to BTS and I'm obsessed at this point. Became official Army just today. :)
