Bro central belt of India 'Delhi and u.p-bihar' states are not touristic destination ,foreigners roams around these states and create perceptions , India is a whole continent within itself...it's chaos in two three states which are near national capital Delhi which are mostly visited... Go for these- Northern India (Himalayas): Ladakh: breathtaking landscapes of this high-altitude desert, ancient monasteries, and adventures like trekking and mountain biking. Uttarakhand: yoga Epicenter and spiritual significance of 'Rishikesh', the ganga and river rafting. Himachal Pradesh: charming hill stations like 'Shimla and McLeod Ganj', and stunning mountain views and peaceful surroundings. North Eastern India( natural beauties): Meghalaya: Witness the living root bridges in 'Cherrapunji', one of the wettest places on Earth, and lush green landscapes. Arunachal Pradesh: 'Ziro Valley' Beautiful rice terraces, pine forests, and Apatani tribal villages Scenic drives, trekking, visiting the 'Sela Lake' diverse wildlife and unique cultures of its tribal communities. Sikkim: serenity of this small Himalayan state and admire the breathtaking beauty of 'Tsomgo Lake and Rumtek Monastery'. Eastern India Andaman and Nicobar islands :-Mud Volcanoes ,Scuba diving and snorkeling , Havelock Island, often ranked among the best beaches in Asia Western India Lakshadweep Islands: white sandy beaches, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, and explore the underwater world of these idyllic islands. Southern India: Kerala: Experience the backwaters, indulge in Ayurvedic treatments, and beautiful hill stations like Munnar and wildlife sanctuaries North West Rajasthan :- ' Udaipur' (Venice of the East," is a picturesque city)

Meeting characters straight out of a James Bond movie. No social media, nadda nothing. Thankfully, this nice man translated it, as it would have ended tragically for me if I had. Cheers guys, and be safe

Even us Indians would avoid Delhi when it comes to travel. Its not a place to 'visit'. Its the place where all the hustlers and people trying to make a living go. And its worse because most of the people come from near poverty level from surrounding poorest states of India. Specially Old Delhi is the worst of Delhi. Far Better places to visit in India specially in the North East Areas, Darjeeling, Himachal, South India (Kerela, Goa etc), Even some parts of Rajasthan and Gujrat.

India has cities that the Brits can only dream of. Outside of London and south east England, the rest of the country has income levels lower than the poorest state of the United States - Mississippi. @@duosdream if you have time, you may want to visit Udaipur in Rajasthan. It is always a top 10 place in Condenast and other top travel mags. If you have money, I would get a room in one of the palace like hotels. The experience is out of this world. Ahmedabad, Gujarat is a UNESCO world heritage city . In fact India has more than 40 UNESCO World Heritage sites. You may want to visit those. If you are into temples, there are spectacular architectural marvels all over India. And generally temples and their surroundings are very clean. Islamic areas in India are ghettos like in Old Delhi where you are at. The places right next to a mosque tend to be very dirty and unhygienic like those old Delhi mosques. If you want a clean experience visit Akshardham and the Lotus temples pretty close to where you are. Or stroll around in New Delhi with its hi-tech museums, street art, national monuments and sprawling gardens. You can take Delhi metro’s extensive network anywhere - no need for a rickshaw. It is cheap, clean, safe, and comfortable. If you want high end dining and luxury malls, visit Gurgaon or NOIDA or Aerocity. Delhi has options for everyone- from the ultra rich to the dirt poor to all shades in between. Choose what experience you want. Old Delhi where you are staying is just 10% of Delhi NCR.

I am an Indian , we have a habit of blaming the government every time , you know the current government started a good initiative of toilets at home and successfully they have got some 97% of households open defecation free , but for this the village officer literally had to beat up the villagers shitting on the tracks because they were offered promotion if villages under them were declared Ope defecation free , so basically 90% of Indians have to be beaten to mordernity while we demand for subsidies and freebies the govt cannot invest on public infrastructure and town planning , India is doomed until and unless it is democratic or either the 10% of Indians could exercise their right to vote
