Thank you for presenting Romania accurately and without past prejudices that many Western EU countries pedalled back and forth. Romanians* Wallachians or Vlah is an exonym (= a name used exclusively by foreigners). Romanians (be they moldovan, transilvanian or wallachian) called themselves romanians. Wallachia itself is an exonym. Its romanian name (the native one used by its inhabitants în their native tongue) was "Țara Românească" (meaning "Land of the romans/romanians"). Moldova too appears as "Țara Românească a Moldovei" in internal documents. And also we have another important rullers in medieval time, and i whould add here: Michael the Brave, Stephen the Great (Athleta Christ and cousin of Vlad the Impaler), John Hunyadi (Athleta Christ of Corvin family), Mircea the Elder (grandfather of Vlad). All of them stood against the Ottomans. Romanian principalities was never under Ottoman rule, only vassals (tributary states) but not ruled directly. I wanted to clarify also this aspect. Welcome to our country! :)

I watched your speech in the vlog about Bucharest and it seems to me that you understood the Romanian issue quite well. You made a well-documented description, without silly exaggerations, and you pronounced the Romanian names quite well. You are among the few foreign vloggers who have understood the political context of Romania. I'm glad that some foreign vloggers are really interested in producing quality documentaries and refuse the easy and sensational information (the so-called templates or clichés) that Romanians were used to. I hope you continue with interesting vlogs about my country and try to get out of the "comfort zone" of tabloid communication.👌👍🤗

Thank you for making such a good effort and presenting Romania so kindly! There are a few inaccuracies, but nothing important really: the name of Dracula associated with Vlad comes from the house he was a part of, which was named the House of Draculesti, which back during that time meant the House of the Dragon - because his father was a knight of the Order of the Dragon; the Arcul de Triumf was build in the aftermath of the Great Union, after Romania won WW1. Construction started in 1922 in fact, and the motifs on the arch are the battles and other important events of WW1. The War of Independence ended in 1878. Aside from those things, everything you said was true, and either way all of it was very nicely presented.

The only thing that I have to add to your excelent commentary , brief but comprehensive, is that the Principates of Romania , Wallachia and Moldova were never conquered by the Ottoman turks , but around XVII century (17) due also to fights of nobility for the throne , greek aristocrats living inside the Otoman empire became able to bribe and buy those thrones and became princes (domnitori) of the 2 historic regions Walahia and Moldova until 1821! only a small region in western Romania , the counties of Craiova and Timisora became Pasalac meaning governed by a turkish Pasha , while they were under the Hungartan King that lost the battle againt the turks and were totaly ocupied by them and transformed into turkish Pashalik!!!

As a Romanian I must congratulate you on your knowledge of our history which unfortunately surpasses that of many of my compatriots'. Especially forgotten in these days of anti-Russian propaganda, is the role the Russian Empire and later the USSR played in restoring the territorial integrity of most of our country. They did chop off some small pieces that were lost to present day Ukraine, but we got to keep Transylvania and Dobrogea, while half of Moldova is now an independent country. Not a bad outcome considering what other regional powers would have in store for us.

Vlad was born in Sighisoara where his father had properties. His father was nicknamed Vlad Dracu , as he was wearing the pendant of the Order of the Dragon , awarded to him by King of France. In Romanian old tongue , the dragon is equivalent with Balaur , which was a synonym for the Devil . Hence the nickname Dracu (Devil ) . Vlad impaled also a lot of locals . He decreed a set of merchant rules and all merchants had to respect them . Using fake weights when selling stuff .... and up you go. Legend says that one guy lost on the street a small bag of gold coins and the next day he found them untouched in the spot he dropped them. Nobody dared to steal them . Based on modern sociology , fear is the driving engine of society and looks that Vlad discovered this long time ago 🙂

Just in the past 1000 years we've been invaded by Goths, Huns, Gepids, Avars, Slavs, Bulgars, Magyars, Cumans, Greeks, Romans, and Mongols, The austrian Habsburg empire, polish,The Russian empire , natzi germany, russian comunists, most of the wars involving Russia and Ottomans were fought in Romania ,etc. And that is just the past 1000 years

Fantastic summary of what happened to my city under the yoke of that shoemaker. We had one of those informants/spies in the apartment block I live now. It was a janitor.

I ve got some food suggestions for the next vlogs if u dont mind. You definetly have to try mici (meat sausages without the casing, they come with mustard and optionally beer:) ) and papanasi which is a desert (basically donuts which contain sweet cheese and are topped with blueberry jam). You could also try some soups, they are really popular in romania and we have large variety of them. First one is ciorba de afumatura (it contains beans and smoked meat, sometimes it is served in a bowl made out of bread), second one is ciorba de burta (contains cow stomach or tripe, sounds strange but maybe you gonna give it a try) and last one and my favourite, ciorba radauteana (contains chicken and lots of heavy cream and garlic)

😁😁😁 "optional bear". I'm trying to imagine Nadir eating "mici" + "mustard" with "optional bear" next to him. How about cold beer instead of bear?
