Welcome back to Florida! I love how you can take the most mundane thing such as a flight and make it so entertaining. Watching you peruse the areas at the airport and wander around commenting on things is pretty relaxing in a way and makes the video more fun.

The running tracks you were seeing could have possibly been horse training tracks, quite possibly over Lexington, KY. I live close to Lexington, KY and there are numerous large horse farms that have those. KY is known for its horse training and racing. And many of the tracks have retention ponds in the middle so that the track doesn't get washed out or flooded during heavy periods of rain.

I love watching the plane operations too. I worked for United at O'hare when was 19, loading baggage and mail for a short time and they filed for bankruptcy and I was one of the first to be laid off. Such is life. I'm really surprised terminal 1 didn't remind you of Home Alone. Anyway, glad you had fun in Chicago and went to more Sox games than that other team games. 75 bucks to park a car lol. You need to return in the summer. It's not always a cold wind tunnel here.

Hey Adam, the N numbers on the side of Aircraft are sort of a registration. They are also called Tail Numbers on Small Aircraft. You can go to a site, enter that number. The aircraft history and owner information will come up. This allows the Public to see the history of the Aircraft.

I guess you don't know this, but even with airplane mode on, your phone's GPS still works. So, the trick is while waiting to board, use your maps app to trace the likely flight path while zoomed in to load the details. Then when you're in the air, you can look at your maps app and have a pretty good idea of where you are.
@Staatus_Quo

On certain phones, you have to turn the GPS back on manually, or "Greenlight" it inside the Airplane Mode. Seems to depend on the manufacturer.

Adam. Helpful hint. Never fill up outside the airport. You’re being ripped off since most people fill their rental car before returning. Usually 5 miles away will save you at least 50 cents per gallon.

Also don’t stay in hotels at the airport when staying in town longer than a day. Finally, don’t rent cars in major cities. Stay in the city, and take Uber/public transportation. Parking costs are crazy, and you get no real exposure to the city at the airport.

I didn't get to fly til I was an adult able to pay for my own tickets, so I will never not be amazed by all of it. Every single time I'm on a plane I think of Louis CK's bit on Conan, where he says "Did you fly through the air like a bird? did you partake in the miracle of human flight? You're flying! It's amazing! Everybody on every flight should constantly be like 'oh my gaaawd whaow!' You're sitting in a chair-- in the sky! " That's why it's window seat or bust for me, as I tired of people closing the window shade down on my awe, hehe. Also I'm sure of few of us here also always think of Christopher Reeve Superman out there too. "Fly. Just...fly. " Awesomeness.

The "N" number on an aircraft (N612UX) is the plane's registration number - think of it as a license plate number for airplanes. You can see which country where the aircraft is registered by this number - in the US every aircraft number begins with N. Every country has its own designated letter for aircraft. You can google these numbers to see information about specific aircraft, such as who the owner is, its current location, and its flight history.

All planes in the US are given a registration Number that starts with a letter N, Commercial Jets usually have 3 numbers and then two letters indicating the original owner of the plane. For example, American Airlines jets usually end in AA. Planes from mexico usually have 5 letter starting with XA for commercial, XB for private , XC for government. Other countries have different letters or number combinations.
