Any interest in sharing the wiring diagram or photos of your controller setup? I have an old analog heat press that I’m upgrading the electronics on, I thought it would be fun to add auto open as well

Smokey I made this press from the ground up. I have considered before of doing a build video. I may just do a breakdown and overview of the build. It is still working. I have only had to replace 1 part on it in the almost four years since I built it and it was the timer controller. Other than that it has required literally no maintenance. It is not cheap to build this either and will require the tools and materials. I had all of the steel for the build and it still cost me about $1000 for all the materials and accessories. I need to do an overhaul on it as I now have a CNC, lasers and 3D printers to assist in upgrades. It is just hard to put the work in to create another video on the press when it still hasn’t taken off like I was expecting. I guess that is everyone that posts a video to KZitem.

Did you use arduino for to code this
@exoduscustoms1348
Жыл бұрын
No, it’s a simple 24v timer controller that activates a pneumatic Mac valve on signal. Signal being the push buttons. The temperature is controlled through a separate temperature controller.

It cost me about $900 US to build this press. Everything was built in my garage and it took me about 3-1/2 months going through all the trials on top of having a family and a full time job. What parts of this machine are you interested in learning about. There is quite a bit tho this thing. If there is enough interest i may do a how to build and do a giveaway for the one i build in the tutorial.

Sachin Malji It is a CAT-1P1060SP air compressor. It is 65 decibels while running and you can look up the specs for this specific one. It works perfectly for this application and is available on Amazon.

I haven’t made another for anyone yet. I will say that it has been in operation since before this video was posted and it is still currently running in my basement with all the original parts. The only thing I had to do this whole time was to tighten a screw on a terminal that was a little loose. I haven’t really considered building another one. I was waiting for it to break so I could revamp the whole deal. I now have a full blown shop, CNC, C02 laser, 3D printer. When I built this, it was done in my garage all by hand. I wonder if people would be interested in a kit you assemble and wire up yourself. It was a little over $1000 in parts and 3 months to build this one. I am not sure I can even get the same controllers/pneumatic piston anymore. Pretty sure that specific piston is discontinued.

Hi! I'm trying to make a pneumatic heat press for a university project. What is the bore size of the air cylinder you used?
@exoduscustoms1348
3 жыл бұрын
It is a 1-1/2” bore diameter with a 5” stroke. It is also a squared non rotating piston.

Is the heat even enough for sublimation? What's the hot plate made from? I want to build a press (not pneumatic I'm not that skilled) that would be able to do a metre of fabric at a time
@exoduscustoms1348
3 жыл бұрын
The hot plate is from a clamshell press that my wife originally started out with. It’s 15”x15” cast iron with a steel plate coated in Teflon. At least that is what I assume. It is capable of reaching just shy of 500*F. I considered the same thing and my main concern was how dangerous it is to apply those types of high heat coatings used on these hot plates.

Curtis Apgar the hot plate is the only thing I didn’t make/ build.
@exoduscustoms1348
4 жыл бұрын
Curtis Apgar also this plate has about an 7-8 degree difference between the front and the back of the plate while horizontal. When the heat press started out it was a clamshell and it had about a 30-35 degree difference and so I had originally planned to make my hot plate but am totally able to work with a 8 degree difference over the total hot plate surface. I may in the future build another updated press with a custom hot plate.

Can you tell me Which type of coil do you used for heating and also controller
@exoduscustoms1348
5 жыл бұрын
The controller is a 12v thermostatic relay for a grill that I modified to handle 110v for the heating coil. The heating coil is from one of the clamshell heat presses off amazon. The heating coil itself is the only piece that was not made or added to this press.

I have not posted any of the parts used for this. In my beginning stages of the channel I thought it was going to blow up and be huge and it just didn’t go anywhere. I also suck at the video editing part and with limited time with kids and ball games I just haven’t jumped back into this yet. There seems to be a growing interest in the press so I may do another video of the controllers and parts used. It will take some time though as KZitem isn’t my profession and I am currently working on some other projects.

Khushi what specifications about the cylinder are you looking for? It is a pneumatic driven cylinder non rotating square shaft. This specific one was able to handle 2 times the pressure I would be using for this project. It has 1/4” threaded ports. I do not see a specific reason to use this exact cylinder, it just fit the needs of this specific project.

Sachin Malji it depends what is being pressed. I have a regulator at the compressor and a secondary regulator for the machine. It can run from 5 psi to 120 psi at the machine.
