Interesting area! Thanks for taking us out for a spin! 😂 I was a roadie for many years (since 1985), riding a mountain bike only occasionally when the temperature dropped down to around 0c. I bought a gravel bike 2 years ago and I haven’t looked back. Kansas has loads of gravel roads and it is so very nice to not have to deal with the threat of cars and their distracted drivers. Dogs? Yeah, dogs are a bit more of an issue! 😬 It’s also nice to have gravel within 1/2 mile of my home. Also, for everyone who bikes outdoors, remember your sunscreen! Melanoma survivor here. You don’t want to be me! Protect your skin.

Welcome the fun of dirt riding and less stress of riding without worrying about cars or trucks. Just jumping on side path to avoid a bad traffic area is so much more enjoyable and scenic..

I picked up the Favero Assioma Pro MX-1 (left side only) power meter MTB pedals a couple weeks ago for my gravel bike. They have been great, and they don't really break the bank either.

Was trying to go this direction but all on pre order around here and I won’t get it in time for my big race 👎🏽 let me know if I can rent them off you 🤪

Love this! 🙂👋 This is what gravel bike is about, going off the road and explore, mess around. You mention that you want power so thats why you have road pedals, I bought Favero assioma mx pro power pedals, spd cleats, power, and durable body, GO for it! They are perfect! 💪

I tried to get these pedals for my race but still pre order everywhere here. Found some Garmin’s on the second hand market but can’t negotiate a price that both parties are happy with LOLOL AKA I’m being a LOWBALLER 😆

@@DontGetDroppedCycling I would go for the pre order... I like Garmin, have their GPS unit and like the Connect, but I feel like Garmins are now irrelevant when Favero can make precise and durable pedal for like what, half of the price?🤔 And in case of crash the pedal body is also half the price because all the electronics are in the spindle as oppose the Garmins...

@MrLamermatej I get Garmin at cost though my IRL job so that’s why I run Rally pedals and Varia lights, if not I’d go Favero. I can’t get them via Garmin for race day either so I’m gonna holster my CC and accept no power data for my race.

I got a Trek Checkpoint a couple months ago and have really enjoyed it. Been a mt biker forever, tried a road bike a couple times but just couldn't get into it, but the gravel bike seems like the best of both worlds. Rolls smooth (enough for me) on pavement, but will also take on gravel and rocky class IV roads/trails.

Garmin Virb but tbh it’s being held together by popsicle sticks and white glue 🙃 I need to find a new solution soon before it completely dies. It hasn’t been update in 5+yrs.

On some of them tech sections , like high single trail on edge of creek , use brakes while applying pedal pressure to go slow smoothly , stop you from trying to unclip , stay upright , hehe
